“I can’t believe that’s true. You’re gorgeous and great in bed.”

“They…didn’t think so. I’ve paid for that most of my life, and the times I didn’t, it was quick, and they were gone right after. I’m not trying to feel sorry for myself, Hud. It’s something that Eli, Joel, and I have in common. It’s how we first broke the ice.”

I sat by him, grabbing his cool hand into mine. “How’s that?”

“Eli, you see how pretty he is. Well, everyone just wanted him for his looks. He’d get laid, but it was mostly about his looks. He didn't trust it when Noah fell for him because he worried that Noah was the same. Then Joel, that poor guy, only had guys that wanted sex from him. That’s it. He never fucked guys more than once because no one would call him back. He got used to that early on and figured he’d never have a relationship because no one could want him for longer than it took to fuck him.”

My heart broke for Theo’s friends, though seeing them all with their men, I knew that had changed for them. “And you, it was your money. I can see how you all bonded. Now, like them, you have someone that loves you, just for you, Theo.”

“And I have friends. Hud, I hated it here when I first came. It was you; that was the only reason I wanted to stay because I saw that you were different, but I knew you’d hurt me. I tried hard to hurt you first.”

“I know that, but I’m stubborn, Theo.”

He looked up at me with shining eyes that held his love for me. “I don’t know how to say thank you very well. I’m told my gratitude has attitude, but I hope you know…”

“I do. I love you, Theo.”

“You see me, Hud. Like you said, when I tried to push you away, you said you saw me. That’s all I ever wanted.”

We made out on the bed for a while, then decided to finish dressing, and I suggested, though it wasn’t flattering, to wear his sweatpants and sweater for the night to be warm and comfortable. He relented and then sighed, “God, this is nice!”

“Right? You don’t have to wear tight and revealing clothes to look good, either. You look very sexy in those baggy, comfortable things.”

“Don’t even care! Let’s go drink and sit around. Not kneeling for the night will be a joy! I’m getting calluses on my knees, I hope you know, and I have adorable knees. If I get calluses, I’m blaming you!”

He went before me, ensuring I knew we were out of our roles for the night. He was always to stay in a room ahead of me.

Making the night count, Theo was snarky, picky, and hilarious from the moment we descended the stairs. “Oh, good, I’m not the only one to dress like a peasant,” he said to Ryan and Brett, who were both wearing sweats, and Brett had a tattered robe.

“Theo, you’re an ass,” Brett accused, giggling.

“But a great ass,” he said, entering the kitchen. He was there only a second before poking his head out and calling to Brett, “Are you coming to help?”

I sighed, “Ball gag, duct tape, all the things I need to have this guy around.”

Chapter Eighteen

The night was great, and with the liquor in everyone, truths poured from all of us. Theo confessed to the room that he was interested in being monogamous adjacent. That’s how he said it.

“What the hell are you talking about?” Ryan asked him after laughing.

“Well, unlike Joel and his Doms, I don’t want to be passed around like that. Who knows what…sorry, but scuzzy men would want to have at me?”

Brett cracked up and added, “And they would. People often go to clubs to pick up orgies like that and get in on them. It saves them from having to do the work of finding a guy for the night. Generally, not a good look.”

“Okay, then, what are you talking about, Theo?” I asked, terribly curious. “You know I’m poly, and besides now, with you, I’ve never even considered being monogamous.”

“Adjacent,” he reiterated. “I don’t want you to get tired of me. But…how would this be? Do we only play with select people? Like…these two fine gentlemen.”

Ryan’s pale green eyes met mine, and he nodded to me. “I see. So, would we be in this together? What if Ryan and Brett aren’t into that?”

Brett asked Ryan, “Would we be? We’ve had…thousands of men at the dungeon. Literally. All those faces…could we, maybe, stick to a couple guys for now, and each other, of course.”

“I thought about it after we left there, of it just being you and me, but training these two made me see that it would be hard, going from all that to just us, not that you’re not enough for me, Brett. Get that straight. You are enough and everything to me.”

“Oh, I know. That’s not the point, Ryan. We always go home together. This is just for fun.”

Ryan looked at me again. “Your thoughts?”
