“We’d be glad to.”

“All right, then we’ll see you tomorrow.”

“See you then.”

Theo laid his hand on my thigh, and I knew he wanted to speak, so I allowed it. “Go ahead.”

“Tomorrow, if you’re going there, may I go to Eli’s? I have a lot to go over with him.”

“You do know it’s months away, right?”

“Five,” he hollered, then remembered himself and calmed visibly before continuing. “Master, I realize you’ve never been this involved in a wedding, but it’s very detailed and takes months to plan.”

I grinned at him as I understood that. “Fine. You may go to Eli’s when we head to the club. Anything else?”

Theo moved his eyes to me briefly, then lowered them again. “Well, the club…it’s getting close, and I wonder if I’m…ready.”

“Oh. We’ll go a little crazy getting you ready over the next few days. We're completely in role from now until after the weekend at the club. Better?”

“Better, Master.”

“I’m almost done with work,” I said to him, cupping his chin and moving his head so our eyes could meet. Those gray storms were brewing, and I knew he had a lot of worries. “Why don’t you go get lunch started. Sandwiches are fine for today, some slices of those peaches and apples we got at the store.”

“Yes, Master.”

Before he could leave, I asked, “Theo, before we start anything else, I need to talk over some things.”

“Bad?”

“No. You’ve been excellent, Theo. I promise.”

He got up and kissed me sweetly. “Thank you, Master.”

It worried me, as Theo had never thought of others before, and with him taking on his new role as my slave, with the wedding and new business, he had a lot on his plate. I didn’t know how he handled it; it was my job to find out those things.

I finished up the insurance for the subcontractors, never realizing before how much Burke was spending on my health insurance. When those forms were finished, I headed into the kitchen to find Theo diligently cutting the fruit. That made me nervous, as he still wasn’t great at knife use. “Don’t cut off your fingers.”

“No, Master.”

Ryan and Brett came to eat, and we sat around, laughing and talking, Brett asking Theo to help him decorate the new house and jumping on it like he didn’t have a list as long as my long arm already.

When I took him to the bedroom after lunch, I sat him on my lap. That was the best place for him to open up to me. “Talk. Tell me about your worries.”

“Worries? Master, I’m not worried.”

“You’re tense. You’re constantly thinking of everything you’re doing now, not concentrating on yourself. Even with this Master/slave thing, I worry you are trying so hard with it that you are neglecting yourself.”

“Master, I’m fine. I finally have friends and someone that loves me. What can be wrong?”

Running my hand over his smooth, thin thigh, I tried to put it in a way that I wouldn’t hurt his feelings. “Babe, you haven’t had much on your plate before this. You partied, you shopped, and I’m sorry if that sounds harsh.”

“No. It’s true, but I had a lot more worries then. I worried if I would ever have this. I still worry it will be a dream and I’ll wake up. I feel like I don’t deserve it, and I don’t.” I opened my mouth to bitch, but he lay his fingers over my lips tenderly. “I’m not putting myself down. It was a nightmare. Like you said, I pushed people away before they could leave alone. Now, look at all I have. I want to do everything I’m doing to be my best. And yes, it makes me tense, but I love it. I love having all these things to do. I might need more time off this…”

“I have been thinking about that. I work now, and you do too. When we finish training, which will likely be once Brett and Ryan move into their new home, we’ll be at the point, or past it, where we’ll need a new contract. More time for work and friends is needed, I think. Maybe specific times of the day for our roles.”

“It helps me, so not a lot of time off.”

I liked hearing that, as part of my job was to help Theo through emotions too, stress, and worry. He was kicking his legs, smiling, and the tension had left him. More talks, I knew, were needed. They settled us both most of the time. “Not a lot.”
