“I’m fine,” I mutter and take a sip of bourbon. “Am I an obsessive person?”

Michael thinks the question over for a minute before sitting up straighter in his chair. He’s about to level with me, and I brace myself. “The way you’ve moved things along with Piper is a little out of character for you,” he says cautiously. “How would you react if she wanted to leave?”

I clench my jaw, feeling tense. “She won’t be leaving me.”

He arches a brow. “Then maybe a little obsessed, yes.”

We see Ace arrive on the security cameras and shelve our conversation. A bodyguard brings him to the office, and I’m surprised Scar is by his side rather than his son. “Take a seat,” I say, pointing to the chairs set out before my desk.

Michael gets them each a drink and takes a seat off to the side of us. I lay out some photographs of Hulk packing his saddlebags with my money. Then I add pictures of Hulk with some of my product. “That proves shit,” says Scar, leaning over to stare at the photographs.

I press play on the recording device that my guy wore when Hulk offered him a deal. I see the realisation dawn on Ace’s face. He closes his eyes briefly and grits his teeth. “How long has this been going on?” he asks. “Why didn’t you come to me straight away?”

“I needed proof. I knew you wouldn’t take my word for it otherwise.”

“So, what do you want from us now?” asks Scar.

“Nothing. I have Piper. You kicked her out of the club, so I got what I wanted, but there will be repercussions for what Hulk’s done.”

“What kind of repercussions?” asks Ace.

“The kind that will hit your finances,” I say. “The kind that will cause you some problems.”

“Spit it out,” snaps Scar. “We don’t have all night.”

“I’m limiting your usage of my ports. I want to see everything you bring in. Every crate will be checked over by my men, and I’ll take a cut of the profits.”

“No way,” growls Ace. “The deal was we get in whatever we need if we unload your shipments. I’m not risking my men if I’m not getting anything out of it.”

“I don’t need your men any longer. Thanks to the training your men provided, my men will be unloading the docks from now on. They’ll be unloading your shipments, and I’ll be taking a forty percent cut.”

“Are you shitting me!” yells Ace, standing.

“One of your men has been screwing me over for months. You’re lucky I haven’t put a bullet in him. Stealing is one thing, but betrayal is worse. We made a deal. We agreed on a mutually beneficial deal and your own son fucked it up. If it wasn’t for Tag, I’d have hung your boy from the London docks myself and gutted him like a fish. There’s no deal here. I’m being generous even offering to work with you after this. Until I trust you, this is the only offer you will get.”

“This is bullshit,” Scar mutters. “We can’t afford to agree to this.”

I slam my hands down on the desk and glare at him. “Didn’t you hear me? This is the only deal I’m offering. You turn it down and all ties between the mob and The Rebellion end tonight. None of your shipments will enter London. I’ll make sure of it.”

“And where the hell would you get your guns and weapons if not through The Rebellion?” growls Ace.

“You think you’re the only people who bring that shit in? I have contacts all over the world. My dealings with you came around because of Tag and Lucy marrying. I can end our agreement right now and have a new shipment of goods by the morning. I’ll lose no sleep over cutting our ties.”

“You married into the club, Anton. You’re tied through Piper now,” Ace reminds me.

I laugh. “The same Piper you just kicked out of the club? You made it clear whose side you’re on.”

“She’s Rebellion blood. No matter what, she’ll always be a part of the club. Things said in anger can be resolved,” says Ace.

“But not forgotten or forgiven,” I reply. “The only Rebellions Piper will see from now on will be her parents. I’ll let you break that news to Mae.” I smile.

“And Piper’s okay with that, is she?” asks Scar.

“Piper is my concern now, not yours. My wife, my rules. It’s late, gentlemen. Michael will show you out.”

I leave the office and go to the library. A few minutes later, Michael joins me. “You think they’ll take the deal?” he asks.

“They don’t have a choice. They won’t get the goods in without it. Travelling out to other areas to get them is too risky. They need my protection and my contacts. It was a generous deal.”
