“Look I had planned a longer trip for us, but I know Foster is up to no good. I have asked the captain to take us to the Garage where we can service the yacht and refuel the helicopter. You’ll have a place to work there of course.”

The pictures have made me so happy that I don’t care about skipping days on a beautiful luxury yacht. I just nod and give him another kiss.

GOING TO THE GARAGE

BROOKE

Ethan picks up a radio with me still in his arms, “Captain let’s take her to the garage.”

“Understood Mr. Knight.”

The next few hours are spent cruising towards the garage. As the afternoon sun gets softer, we enjoy every minute. The crew challenges us to a game of pickle ball with three on each side. The Captain of Korrina teams up with us and we get our asses kicked all over the deck. Ethan Knight is terrible at it but relentless and keeps bumping into me and the captain, sending us into fits of laughter. We pop into the kitchen to disturb the very serious pastry chef. Ethan requests him to make some mini pastries for us. But does not allow him to add the finishing touches, complete grabbing and gobbling it down. “Mr. Knight, that is not the way! And Miss Banner you are just as bad for encouraging him!”

The captain’s tour becomes a wine tasting with bottles being popped open for silly reasons and the captain showing true professionalism by refusing to partake. By close to sunset, we are told that we are nearing the garage. The garage doesn’t sound very glamorous for a yacht like this. But then again, I am sure a yacht like this will need repairs and all kinds of updates.

Lounging on reclining chairs we enjoy the view as a small island comes into view. The beautiful island is surrounded by stunning beaches and waters.

“Is that a private beach?” I ask. That’s beautiful. It is the most stunning island I have ever seen in my life. There is a large cliff that gradually descends onto the cream-colored sands of a beach. The beach is lined with gently swaying palm trees, literally calling out to us. The beach area itself must be five miles wide. The whole place is a dream surrounded by blue-green waters.

The captain has joined us, standing next to our reclining chairs. He peers into a pair of binoculars. “That Miss Banner, is the garage.”

I look at Ethan and he nods with a mischievous smile. He goes back to his reclining chair to look over some papers, leaving me with the captain.

“Join me on the bridge Miss Banner. You might enjoy our approach to the garage.” I follow him back to the bridge, the room from where the crew controls this super yacht. The captain is a good storyteller. “Mr. Knight fell in love with this island, but as you can see it has no deep-water port. We had it engineered. Now we can literally park this yacht on the island, like parking a car in a…”

“Garage,” I say, shaking my head.

The world of billionaires!

The captain laughs and continues his explanation.

“Large yachts due to their size have to stay in deeper waters. Smaller boats or ferries are used to bring passengers aboard a yacht. Not for Mr. Knight of course.” The captain enjoys explaining this to me as I watch with wonder.

Just as we approach the beautiful island, he points to cameras placed at the bottom of the hull giving us a view of the seabed. “If you look at this monitor Miss Banner, you can see those?”

I look at the large screen which shows a clear view of the seabed. Laid out on the seabed are tracks. “Are those tracks for our yacht?”

“Yes, that’s the driveway to the garage,” says the captain. “We call it the…”

“Driveway.” I am getting good at this.

Okay! For most people a driveway is a few feet of cement in front of a house. Not so in the world of Ethan Knight.

“So now all we must do is drive over the tracks. Our yacht has wheels, Miss Banner. I am deploying them now.” He presses a button. “You can watch their deployment on screen.”

I am now beyond surprise and watching a large computer screen which shows a view from a camera mounted on the highest point of the yacht. The downward view shows large metallic flat beams emerging from the sides of the yacht, as if the whole yacht was on a pair of gigantic skis. Underneath each of these are wheels as large as you might see on an 18-wheeler truck. I hear the large splash as these beams and wheels are lowered into the water.

“Interlock now,” says the captain on his microphone alerting the crew.

I watch the screen showing the underwater view. The large wheels float down with precision, landing neatly on to the waiting tracks. The camera gets a little clouded with the sand displaced from the seabed but not before I have had a glimpse into this world of privilege.

“You are so skillful!”

“A lot of it is automatic Miss Banner, but I’ll take the compliment. Mr. Knight has always insisted on the best technology. Makes things easier for us.”

I see Ethan has joined us on the bridge. He has been listening to our conversation. “Captain, technology can only get us this far, it is people like you I rely on.”

The captain nods gallantly. He orders the crew to “take her in.”
