“I don’t understand why you’re so against fucking this guy again,” Skyler says, sounding genuinely baffled. “You’re clearly still into him. You sucked him off the other day for fuck’s sake.”

“Because—”

“Because why?” Skyler cuts me off. “You’re not a Catholic priest. You don’t need to deny yourself sex.”

“This isn’t about sex,” I bite out, getting frustrated with him. “Or at least not in the way you think.”

“Then tell me what it’s about.”

I shake my head. “You wouldn’t understand. You never give a shit about anyone you sleep with.”

“Ouch.”

I can see from his expression that my words have genuinely stung, so I rush to clarify, offering an apologetic look. “Sorry, I just meant you only do casual flings and one-night stands. You don’t expect anything from the guys you’re with and they don’t expect anything from you.”

He shrugs, allowing the point. “Yeah, I guess that’s fair. Okay, so…what are you saying?”

“I’m saying I’m not like that. You know I’m not. I can’t do casual things. I can’t do sex without emotions. I should never have gone there the first time,” I finish with a heavy sigh.

“Or the second time…” he says wryly, eyes sparkling with amusement.

I grimace at the memory of Monday afternoon. Not because it was horrible—it was the exact opposite of horrible—but I’ve seriously gone and made everything so much more complicated now. “And…the second time,” I agree. “Ireallyshouldn’t have done that.”

“So he doesn’t want anything more serious?”

I snort. “Skyler, all he wants is a dick to fill his hole. And I meanliterallythat’s all he wants. He’s not even really all that attracted to guys, but apparently having his brains fucked out is amazing stress relief. I’m surprised he hasn’t just gotten one of those sex robots yet considering the only reason he goes out looking for dick is because dildos don’t really cut it. He’s rich enough for one.”

“He’s probably seen the end ofEx Machina,”Skyler says, looking deadly serious.

I roll my eyes. I don’t think there’s anything Oscar Isaac’s been in that Skyler hasn’t seen at least fifty times. EvenEpisode IX, which takes commitment.

“How did he figure out being fucked is good stress relief if he’s not into guys?” he asks thoughtfully.

I shrug. “We didn’t really get to that part—my brain kind of fritzed two seconds later when he asked me to fuck him.”

“I think you should talk to him,” he says with a decisive nod. “Lay down some terms. If he wants your cock so bad, make him earn it.”

I arch a brow at him. “Like what? Love me or I won’t fuck you into a wall?”

“Okay, one…” He holds up his fingers, counting off. “That’s not exactly what I meant. And two, that sounds really hot. I can see why he’s so desperate for another go.”

My phone buzzes again, and before I can grab it, Skyler snatches it from the table and reads the text.

“Holy shit! Damn Deacon, if you don’t fuck this guy again I think I might have a go.”

“Give my my phone, asshole,” I growl, practically tackling him to the back of the booth.

“No! You had your chance to reply, now I’m doing it.”

“Skyler!”

“You’ll get it back in a second, and trust me—you’ll be grateful.”

There’s a note in his voice that tells me he’s up to something. And I know him too well to think it can be anything other than the exact opposite of what I would do.

He finally hands my phone back to me, a wicked smirk curving at his lips.

With great trepidation, I glance down at the screen.
