Without a word, Twilight slid from my arms, gathered her clothes and disappeared into the women’s restroom.

I tossed the condom in a trash can and got dressed. When she emerged, I was waiting.

“If you’re finished with me, my lord?” Her voice dripped with ice.

So I was “my lord,” now. Well, I’d asked for it.

I jerked my chin at the exit. “Yes. Return to your suite.”

“Yes, my lord.” She turned to leave, then swung back around.

Her eyes flickered, and for a fraction of a second, I saw the vulnerable person behind the badass. The woman who’d snuggled against me after sex as if she really did likeme—not the prince.

I grimaced. “Twilight…”

Lucky for me, she regained her inner badass before I said anything further. Striding back to me, she grabbed the front of my T-shirt and planted an open-mouthed kiss on my lips. Then she went to the door.

The last thing she did was fling me a kiss-my-ass smirk. “Thanks for a good fuck,Prince.”

Then she was gone, leaving me alone in the empty club.

TWILIGHT

Isauntered back to my suite as if Brien hadn’t sent me away like a plaything he’d grown tired of. Head high, shoulders back, a smile on my lips.

But the moment the door closed behind me, I slumped against it. Damn Brien anyway for making me feel something for him.

In that moment I hated him a little.

A tear slipped down my cheek. I scowled and swiped it away.

I should’ve known better than to believe he still felt the same connection I did, that whatever was happening between us was honest, even if nothing else was.

I’d seen enough vampires lie to their thralls, pretending the thrall was special, when they were only looking to add another notch to their bedposts.

Some even laughed about it after with their friends.

My nails dug into my palms. If he dared…

With an angry toss of my head, I headed into the bathroom for a shower. Washing off Prince Brien’s scent sounded like a helluva good idea right now.

I pinned up my hair and set the temperature to hot, choosing the lower showerheads so my hair would stay dry. Heated water pummeled me from five directions. I closed my eyes and let it wash me clean.

By the time I stepped out, I had things in perspective.

I mean, ithadbeen a good fuck.

No complaints there. I was still humming.

So what if the man who’d provided it was a prick? Maybe that was for the best. At least I wouldn’t do something stupid, like fall in love with his cold-hearted ass.

This situation was already a shitshow. The last thing I needed was to get all warm and fuzzy about Brien.

I toweled off and put on a sleep shirt. I had a TV, even if I didn’t have the internet, so I curled up on my couch and put on an old movie.

An hour later, I awoke with a start and stumbled sleepily into the dark bedroom. Dragging the covers down, I crawled into bed and laid my head down.
