“It’ll destroy the building,” Beiste adds.

“I don’t give a fuck about the building. Oliver won’t wait.”

It takes Beiste a few minutes to rig the front doors. I never liked having C-4 at the nightclub, but it will come in handy today. I shoot every single computer. My office is empty, and The Box has been locked since Ava and the kids were here, so I don’t have anything else to worry about.

Even if the Irish get in, they won’t find anything.

“We’re a go,” Beiste announces, reaching me.

“Let’s go. Marco, tell the snipers to find cover. They need to tell us when men are near enough to blow this fucking place. I want to take out as many Irish as I can.”

“Yes, sir.”

We grab as many weapons as we can carry, then head out the back of the building.

“They’re in their new positions. Six men are approaching the entrance.”

“Let’s move. Once we’re outside, you know what to do, Beiste.”

The next twenty minutes play in slow motion. We make it outside but unexpectedly find men approaching the back of the building. We use the surprise of the explosion to our advantage and kill them before they can shoot at us.

We split into two groups. One group on each side of the building. By the time we’re done, the death count is twenty to three in our favor.

“Marco and Beiste, with me. We need to move.” We sprint to the nearest SUV.

Oliver’s reasoning is understandable, but Ava is my everything, and my father can’t be trusted. There’s no guarantee that he won’t harm her. He is a spiteful man. When it comes down to it, Dougal Manarch does whatever pleases him.

“Gun it. We don’t have much time.”

Hopefully, I’m wrong, and we have enough time to save Ava and Oliver.

ChapterThirty-Five

Oliver

From a young age, I knew I would bring about my father’s demise. He always took me for granted and assumed I was the weakest link. But he was wrong. I take one last breath before I do what needs to be done. As bullets whizz around me, I fire the kill shot.

“Oliver,” Ava screams from the side. “Your right.” I turn with just enough time. After taking down the man sneaking up on me, I run to Ava. She has taken cover behind some barrels. “What are you doing here?” she asks, as relieved as she is panicked.

“Saving you.”

She pulls me in for a hug. “How about we stop meeting like this every time one of us gets taken?” Laughing, I hand her my nine millimeter. “Are you alone?”

“Not for long. Viktor is on his way.”

“And the kids?”

The panic etched between her brows eases when I say, “Perfectly hidden and safe.”

“Good. What should we do?” The warehouse is filled with the sound of semi-automatic weapons. I add to it by continuing to fire my M4. I’m hoping to push them back, but we will soon be outnumbered.

“We’re sitting ducks. I came through a hatch to the sewers, but there are too many of them for us to escape the same way.”

“We aren’t dying here. Don’t you dare give up now.”

“Never.” I peer over the barrels in preparation to start shooting again when I notice a commotion at the entrance. “Viktor is here. Stay low.”

For a moment, it gets so loud I can do nothing but protect my ears from the cacophony.
