But I refuse to lay in bed feeling empty without him. I can’t remember the last time we spent a night apart. I touch his side of the bed. It feels cold, making me miss him more. I pull his pillow to me, and I’m met with his scent. It’s intoxicating, and memories of last night come flooding back.

“On your knees,” he commands.

“Yes, sir.”

“Did I ask you to speak?” His voice deepens, making me instantly wet. I drop to my knees. “Good girl. Unzip my pants and bring down my boxers without touching me.” He knows it’s a difficult task for me. I can’t help not touching him. But somehow, I manage. “Good girl. Now swallow me whole.”

Eagerly. I do…

The shrill of my cell startles me. It’s Viktor. I can’t help but smile.

“Good morning.”

“Good morning, Mrs. Manarch. How are you feeling this morning? Any cold feet?” There is an edge of humor in his tone.

“I’m happy to report my feet are warm and toasty. How about you, Mr. Manarch?”

He doesn’t answer me. Instead, he spoils me. “I left something for you in my nightstand drawer.”

I roll over to his side to open the drawer. There’s a box inside.

“What is it?”

Viktor’s commanding tone sets my veins on fire. “How about you open it and find out.”

I open the box and gasp when I spot a stunning locket with the initials A and N engraved on it. It’s different from the one Oliver got me. I open the locket. Each half holds a picture, Aisling on one side and Niko on the other.

“I don’t know what to say.” A handful of tears escape me.

“You don’t need to say anything. That is your something new.”

“It’s perfect.”

“No. You are, Ava.”

We stay silent for a moment.

“I missed you last night,” I confess, breaking the silence.

“As did I. It will be the last night we will ever sleep apart.”

I can’t hold back my smile. “I’ll hold you to that. What are you doing?”

“Drinking coffee while Oliver stares at me.” Viktor’s laughter vibrates through the cell.

“Tell him I say good morning.”

A knock at my bedroom door interrupts him. “Hold on,” I add.

“Momma,” Aisling singsongs.

“Come in.” She enters with Brenda trailing after her. I mouth good morning, and so does she.

“Who’s there?” Viktor asks curiously.

“Your daughter.” She runs to the bed and attempts to hop in. I have to help her. “Hi, my sweet girl.”

“Momma, Dadda.”
