“After we check on Niko.” Her voice drips with lust.

“Deal.” I smack her ass, and she giggles.

When she opens his door, a cool breeze blows across my face. A window is open.

Ava runs to the crib. Instantly, I know something is wrong.

“Niko,” she calls his name, her voice deathly paralyzed. She scans his bedroom and races to the adjoining door kids’ bathroom, which leads to Aisling’s bedroom. “Niko?”

I take out my cell and dial Oliver.

“Can’t come downstairs? Did Ava kidnap you?”

He stops playing around when I snap, “Lockdown the mansion. Niko isn’t in his bedroom.”

“Niko?” Ava calls as she enters Aisling’s bedroom.

We both know he isn’t there, but she’s desperate.

Ava spins to face me, her eyes wet with tears. “Where is our son, Viktor?”

“Maybe Brenda or Grace have him?” I feel the same panic she’s showing.

Someone has taken our son.

We race downstairs, where there’s now chaos. Everyone is shouting, and my men have flooded the mansion.

“Where is Aisling?” Ava screams at the bottom of the stairs.

“I have her,” my mother says, lifting some of the weight from my chest.

Ava takes Aisling. She hugs her tight while breathing the scent of her hair. “Where are Brenda and Grace?” she asks.

“Marco is talking with Brenda. We’re searching for Grace,” Angus replies.

Ava hands Aisling back to my mother as her maternal instincts kick into overdrive. “Anita, please take Aisling and don’t let her out of your sight.”

“Don’t worry about Aisling,” my mother tells Ava.

There’s a silent exchange between them before Ava shifts her focus to Angus. “Where is Brenda?”

She’s colder than ice. I’ve never seen her this way.

“The kitchen,” Angus answers.

Ava stomps to the kitchen with so much anger I fear what she might do to Brenda.

I grab her arm, stopping her.

“Don’t fucking touch me.” She yanks her arm back.

Her anger is understandable, but this isn’t her.

“Ava,” I call her name to stop her, but she keeps walking.

“Brenda,” Ava shouts the moment she reaches the kitchen.

The poor girl is frightened when she emerges from the walk-in pantry. “Ava, I swear I don’t know anything,” Brenda mutters in tears.
