My brother wasn't helping me feel any better. I was starting to feel more unprepared.

"Just keep the truth a secret while we're on vacation, alright?"

"My lips are sealed," Scott said before hanging up on me.

After that conversation, I knew it was time to try and get some sleep.

***

Waking up to the smell of pancakes was my favorite way to escape sleep. Pancakes were the best breakfast food.

I wiped the sleep from my eyes as I sat up in bed. The smell got stronger the more awake I became.

But who would be in my apartment cooking me breakfast?

Getting out of bed, I grabbed the baseball bat next to it as I walked towards my door. Cracking my door open, I had the perfect view into the kitchen.

I saw a womanly figure flitting around my kitchen. I would recognize that long brown hair anywhere and that curvy body. It was Erica.

I didn't care how she got into my apartment without a key; I was just over the moon to see her. It had been so long.

"Erica," I called out as I stepped into the kitchen and set the baseball bat down.

She turned around, and her brown eyes lit up at seeing me.

"Aaron, it's about time you woke up, sleepyhead. I've got breakfast almost ready for us."

"What are you doing here?" I asked as I walked up to her and set my head on her shoulder.

She was wearing a spaghetti-strap white tank top with a pair of sweats. As I glanced down at her body, I saw her nipples were hard through her shirt. I sucked in a deep breath.

"You invited me, silly," Erica said as she flipped a pancake in the air and caught it on a plate.

I was impressed by her, as she was usually a bit clumsy. Shaking my head, I tried to remember inviting her over, but if she said I did, I must have.

"Well, I'm glad you're here. I missed you."

Erica finished putting all the pancakes on the plate and then turned the stovetop off before turning towards me.

She threw her arms around my shoulders and then did what I was least expecting, she kissed me.

I could hear the sound of fireworks going off at the soft sensation of her lips against mine. The fireworks were booming loudly, and it felt like they were in the room with us.

"What was that for?" I asked once she pulled away.

I knew I must have looked like an idiot with a huge grin.

"I always kiss you before we eat," Erica said matter-of-factly.

My brow furrowed, but before I could continue, Erica spoke. "Time to eat."

We went toward my tiny dining room table and ate. Erica looked at me and ate off my plate like she did in high school. Our feet were tangled together under the table.

"You have a little syrup on your face," Erica said.

She got up from her seat and got in my face. Sticking out her tongue, she licked my cheek.

"Yum," she said.
