"Do you want to know the sex of the baby? We should be able to find that out at tomorrow's appointment." I'm hoping he says yes.

I am a planner and know I will be a mess if I still have the baby's room done before my little pearl arrives. The baby is now more significant than a pearl, but until we find out the sex, that will be his or her nickname.

"I can't wait until the baby is born to find out. I already want to start buying things for the baby, and knowing the sex would be better for planning purposes."

Yes, he is on the same page. I fall asleep thinking of names for the baby and all the cute things I will buy. We are both so excited to know if we are having a boy or a girl that we arrive early to our appointment. We decided to talk about names while we waited.

Aaron says, "How about Harold if it's a boy?"

"Do you hate our baby?" I try to look serious, but I'm laughing.

"You don't think Harold is a distinguished name?" He smirks at me as he says it, and I realize he's teasing me.

"If he was born in the eighteen-hundreds, maybe." We both laugh.

"What about Keanu?" He's one of my favorite actors.

Aaron spits his water out. "Absolutely not. I can't name our baby Keanu; I'll be the laughingstock of Hollywood."

"You don't think he would be honored if we named our baby after him?" I giggle. I'm needling him now, waiting for him to catch on.

Aaron put the cap on his water. "Moving on. What about Alex?"

He wiggles his eyebrows, thinking he's come up with the best name. I look at him incredulously.

"Seriously. Alex Axel? Do you not see what you did there?" I push his arm.

We are thoroughly enjoying ourselves when we hear our name called.

We look at each other. This is it. We return to our room, and I put the gown on as instructed and get into the stirrups. This part always feels uncomfortable. I put the paper around me so I'm not flashing Aaron and lay back.

The doctor walks in. "Okay, are we ready to find out if you're having a boy or a girl?"

We both say yes at the same time.

"Alright then. Let's get started." She puts the warm gel on the ultrasound wand and exposes my belly.

Suddenly, I hear awhooshand then a fast heartbeat. I love that sound. My little pearl is still alive in there, hopefully thriving.

"Everything looks and sounds good. We have all our extremities —fingers and toes. Let's see if we can see the sex." He moves the wand back and forth over my belly, looking for an additional "arm."

The baby keeps moving around, making it difficult to see. Finally, the baby turns toward the wand. There is no additional appendage.

"Congratulations. You may want to change your list of boy names to girl names. You're having a baby girl." The doctor removes the wand and cleans off my belly. "I'll see you back here in a month."

After that, he leaves the room. I'm beyond thrilled. We are having a girl. I had a feeling it was a girl.

Aaron kisses me and helps me off the table. I get dressed, and we go home. We have so many calls to make. I call my parents, who are ecstatic — especially my mom. I could hear it in her voice. I silently promise that my daughter will not have to endure what I endured. I will let her choose her husband and keep my mom from trying to set her up with a rich, handsome guy.

I call my client next, who exclaims, "Oh my goodness. I'm so happy for you guys. We can combine the celebration of the upcoming album with your baby shower."

"I like that idea a lot. I'll plan the album celebration, and you can plan the baby shower."

"Well, since you're laid up, I'll have one of the technicians plan for both. How's that?"

I agree and hang up the phone, then open my Amazon app and hit proceed to checkout. All the items I've been saving in my cart for the baby will be at Aaron's house over the next week. I ordered paint, wallpaper, and furniture. I purchased bottles, diapers, stuffed animals, curtains, and a crib that converts to a toddler bed.

After the album is finished and I'm done with physical therapy, Aaron and I are going back home to Los Angeles. That will give us a month to get the baby's room done. I promised my mom we could keep a nursery at her house, and Aaron's mom is doing the same at home. Our baby is going to be well-loved and cared for.
