Devon grumbles under his breath and starts fumbling with something.

“Keyless wristbands to enter and exit the buildings and your apartment. Fancy shit that are more trouble than they’re worth.”

He drops it on the ground, curses, and as he bends over to pick it up, I see another apartment door open and a guy walks out. He’s clad in only obscenely short swim trunks. They’re bright red and nearly blinding.

I cannot rip my eyes away, mainly because of the color, but also because his junk is squeezed so tight it’s pressed up against the front of the fabric. I swear to god, if I squint my eyes, I can see the bottom of his ball sack. They don’t wear stuff like this in South Dakota, I can guarantee you that.

“Hey there, big man,” Tiny Shorts says.

Devon looks over at him and rolls his eyes. “What the fuck, Holden? What are you wearing?”

Holden smirks smugly. “Got these on sale. Just my size, don’t you think?”

Devon snorts and glances over at me. “Stay away from this one, Chase. Won’t do anything but get you into trouble.”

I swallow, trying to avert my eyes, but I can’t look away. They’re stuck.

“Oh, I’m not trouble,” Holden says, poking Devon in his bulging bicep. “You’re trouble. We all know what really happened on New Year’s Eve.”

Devon huffs, finally unlocking my door and pushing it open.

“Ignore him. For real, Chase. It’s best if you don’t engage.”

But I can’t quite bring myself to do as I’m told. Instead, I watch as Holden moves past us, his wavy, dirty-blond hair brushing his shoulders, the toned muscles in his arms, back, and legs shifting with each step. He has a nice fucking body—a surfer probably—with wide shoulders and a narrow waist.

I wet my lips and when my gaze finally settles on his retreating ass, I feel my dick twitch between my legs.

Oh. Oh shit. Why am I looking at his ass? I never look at guys’ asses. Not really. I mean, I’ve seen them in locker rooms, but I’ve never reallylooked.

But I’m looking at his now, and he has a nice one—round, pert, and muscular.

I cannot look away.

Suddenly, Holden looks over his shoulder, those eyes meeting mine, and he smirks because I’m totally busted.

I totally just got caught checking out his butt.

And the issue isn’t so much that I was caught, but that I’m not into guys.

No, I am one hundred and ten percent straight.

“Don’t even think about it,” Devon grumbles as I close the door behind me and take a deep breath.

“I won’t,” I reply, taking in the small space.

“You were thinking about it pretty hard just then.”

I shake my head. “Wasn’t. I was just…I was just thinking. About other things. While looking in his general direction.”

“Yeah, think all you want, but remember you were warned. That guy is nothing but trouble.”

I shift on my feet. “I’m straight.”

Devon snorts. “That’s what they all say.”

And that doesn’t sound ominous at all.
