Well, that was Calder’s fucking idea.

So, I released her jaw and crossed my arms. “Calder, you wanna take that one?”

Calder bared his canines at me. “No.”

“You’re an annoying fucking ass,” I said to him, gritting my teeth and glaring at him. Later on, I was going to kick his fucking ass for all this shit he had been forcing us to do. “He doesn’t want any of us to mark you until after your fa—”

“If you wanted to mark her, you could’ve,” Calder growled. “Yes, I said what I fucking said, but I was protecting you. I’m not going to let us go through what we did again. I can’t fucking carry that on my back for four more years.”

Sina shook her head, as if she didn’t understand where this was going or what we were even talking about. Hell, I didn’t blame her. Sometimes, with Calder, I didn’t fucking know either. He was even more of a closed fucking book than I was.

But in his sick, fucked up mind, he thought that if we marked her, our connection with her would go through the fucking roof. If her father took her away from us again, we’d all go insane and not think clearly, do anything to get her back—even if it meant sacrificing ourselves.

He didn’t want Sina to go through something like that either—to be reunited with her mates and find out that two or three of us had died, trying to protect her. Hell, it had been bad enough four years ago when she left.

“Is it because you want to see other women?” she asked Calder directly, standing.

“No,” Calder growled. “Don’t even say shit like that.”

“So, that’s why you have another girl’s panties just sitting in your room?”

“That thong you found”—Calder stared at her—“is yours.”

Sina shifted from foot to foot, arms crossed and wide eyes rageful. “It’s not mine!”

“It was the only fucking thing that was left behind at your old house,” I said.

She glanced from me to Darius to Gaian, then finally to Calder, her eyes softening. “Are you being serious? You’re not lying to me?” she asked. When none of us came forward, she frowned and collapsed back onto the bed. “They’re mine?”

“Yes,” Gaian said.

After running a hand across her face, she sighed and pulled a blanket over her body. Suddenly, tears wavered in her eyes. She shook her head and stared down at her legs underneath the blankets.

“I don’t remember,” she whispered, wrapping her arms around her body. “I’m sorry.”

I glanced over at the guys, wondering why she was reacting this way. It was only underwear. She’d probably had a hundred different pairs of them over her lifetime. Why was she suddenly freaking out about them?

None of the others really seemed to understand either.

“Comfort her,”I said to Gaian through the mind link.

Because I sure as hell didn’t know how to. He always had the easiest time with her.

Gaian walked over to the bed and sat on the edge, next to Sina, as we all watched. It was fucked up that we didn’t even know how to speak to our own mate, but we hadn’t been around any other women for four fucking years.

“It’s fine, Sina,” Gaian said, gently rubbing her leg. “You don’t have to cry over it.”

“I’m not crying over the underwear,” she whispered, a hiccup escaping her lips. “I’m crying because I don’t remember. If I can’t remember a simple pair of underwear that I wore—and they’re bright fucking neon-colored, so howcould Iforget?—what if I don’t remember other things? What if I …”

Fear and terror crossed her face, her cheeks paling.

“What the fuck did your dad do to you, Sina?” I asked when she didn’t continue.

It was a question that we all wanted to know the answer to, but Sina had shut us down last time we asked her. The more information that we learned, the more and more I wanted to just rip her father to fucking pieces.

She was terrified that she’d forgotten her memories.

“What if they did more than what I think they did?” she asked, more to herself than to us. “What if it was so much worse? How could I just forget? How could I … how could I forget?”
