My cheeks flushed as Calder grabbed my hand.

“Thanks for the invite, Maxine.”

I cut my gaze to him, knowing well that nobody had invited him oranyof them. They’d all just decided to come once they figured out that Maxine had invited me over. They weren’t about to let me out of their sight, and after earlier, I didn’t want them to either.

“Come on,” Maxine said, pulling me through the crowd. “I want you to meet Xorgor.”

“Xorgor,” I repeated.

I had only seen her boyfriend a couple of times in passing. He seemed to stay out of the crowd and the drama in Durnbone, and I didn’t blame him. I didn’t want Maxine to be messed up in all the craziness. She’d already had a shit time, growing up, from bullies who joked about the scars from a werewolf attack on her chest.

Thankfully, growing up, Calder, Thayer, Darius, and Gaian had completely slaughtered the pack who had done this to her. Or at least, I thought they had because I had innocently asked the day after my sixteenth birthday to make things right, and the next day, she had found their leader’s head on her front steps.

Still, nobody looked at her the same for the rest of her time here. It pissed me off.

“Xorgor!” Maxine called, pushing through the crowd and into the back, where a group of demons hung out.

Thayer walked closer to me, snatching my hand out of Calder’s and growling at the demons who looked me up and down. “Don’t fucking look them in the eye, Pretty Bird. Don’t trust any one of these fuckers.”

A couple of moments later, a tall demon sidestepped around other rowdy guys. One half of his face was humanlike—a green eye, pale skin, and shaggy brown hair. The other side of his face was stuck in a demonlike form—a red eye, charred skin, and jagged teeth that couldn’t be covered by his lips.

People stepped out of his way and made it a point to avoid him altogether, as if he had some sort of disease. Most demons that I had met could usually switch in and out of their demon forms, but he seemed to be stuck like this.

Thayer eyed him for a long time, then nodded to Xorgor, as if he accepted him unlike everyone else. Demons seemed to stick with their own kind—sex demons with sex demons, wrathful demons with wrathful demons. I guessed, being a half-wolf, half-demon mix made Thayer an outcast too, just like Xorgor seemed to be.

Maxine wrapped her arm around Xorgor’s and beamed up at the man who stood at least a solid two feet taller than her. For the first time, Maxine looked truly in love. I grinned back at her, happy as hell that she’d found someone to accept her.

Once she disappeared into the crowd with him, talking to a couple other people who had walked into the party, I scanned the room for any sign of my ex-boyfriend. Like expected, Jaroth hadn’t shown up tonight. When I used to date him, he would be at every party, no matter how big or small. If he wasn’t here tonight, that meant one thing … he still really cared and wanted to help out.

I didn’t want to date him, and Ineverwould again after what he did to me, but something stirred inside me at the mere thought of him actually trying to find information about my father’s plans and whereabouts. I wanted this to be over already.

But if what the guys believed was true and Jaroth really wasn’t to be trusted, then I was glad that he wasn’t here tonight either. My guys might’ve wanted to show him that I was theirs, but I didn’t want them to be in danger.

So, throughout the night, I walked around the party and chatted with a couple of people who ogled my body. At some point, Calder, Gaian, and Darius had all dispersed through the crowd to talk to people they knew around Durnbone while I stayed glued to Thayer’s hip.

“Can I take this mask off?” I asked Thayer, squeezing his hand to stay close.

More and more people began crowding into the room, the air becoming heavier with everyone’s body heat. Hundreds of scents flooded through my nose, and I desperately needed some fresh air. This mask wasn’t doing shit right now.

Not to mention, the way some people were staring at me was sorta, kinda making me horny.

Thayer took one longing look at me and smirked, as if he knew something about my costume that I didn’t know. “No.”

“Why? What does it—”

Before I could even finish my sentence, something slipped all the way into my mouth and down my throat. My eyes widened with tears as I gagged on the object and grabbed on to Thayer. I tried to open my mouth to speak, but I couldn’t get out a single word.

Instead of helping me, Thayer grinned even wider, wrapped an arm around my shoulder, and pulled me closer to him to whisper into my ear. “Tonight, you’re our cute little cumslut, who’s going to take our cum anywhere we want you to.”

I let out some muffled words that even I couldn’t understand.

“Do you remember that trinket shop and the underwear that let us use you?” Thayer said, strumming his fingers over my shoulder and making the hairs on my arms rise. “Well, we got one for your bratty little mouth too. And we plan on enjoying it tonight, Pretty Bird.”
