“Hmmm, maybe. I love the idea of the series inspiring others to be brave and empowered by their identities and sexual orientation. And if that is something that could come out of this project, weshouldconsider it. But I think we should have a meeting with Chet and the producer to understand the objectives.” Emerald bit her lip as she opened her mind to the possibility.
“I have a thought. Why don't we write a proposal about our goals regarding the potential series? That way, we can provide an outline and perimeters. Because, like you, I also don't want to feel exploited,” Romy suggested.
Suddenly, Emerald was hit with an inspiring idea; it was something she had always wanted to try, but until now, she had not found an opportunity. Exclaiming, Emerald squealed. “I know! Why don't I ask to co-write the series myself? I already have decades of experience understanding scripts, and I've worked closely with every top director in Hollywood!”
Romy's eyes grew wide, matching Emerald's energy. “Oh my god, that's a great idea! That way, we can have some control over the narrative. And you can explore something new within your field.”
Romy smiled to herself. This was Emerald through and through, used to getting what she wanted, complete confidence that she could do anything and Romy loved that about her.
“Wow, okay, I'm excited now! This is definitely something I can do. But, of course, we still need to meet with the producer. But yes, I think that's the perfect solution.” Emerald stood from the couch. “I'm going to call Chet right now.” Grabbing her phone, she dialed her agent's number, reaching him on the first ring.
Emerald kept an eye on Romy as she shared their idea of writing the script for the Netflix series. Emerald also shared her hesitations, negotiating the offer as a way to portray their love story and her life story authentically. As the conversation continued, Emerald grinned, thrilled to hear Chet's positive response; she couldn't wait to tell Romy the news.
As Emerald said goodbye, Romy stood up to meet Emerald, touching her elbow. “Well? What did he say?”
Beaming, Emerald replied, “Chetlovesthe idea! He can't approve it, of course, but he said he'll speak to the director and plan a meeting with us and the producer. I know Chet will support this; he thinks it's the perfect solution.”
Excitedly, the couple embraced one another, giggling with joy. Romy cupped Emerald's face, bringing her close. Emerald closed her eyes as Romy's warm lips met hers. She was the happiest she had ever been, and with Romy by her side, their future would be better than any Hollywood ending.
