"Okay?" I ask. This is way too easy. "That's it? You aren't going to try to use it against me or something? Make me do your bidding, King Gabriel?"

"My bidding?" He grins as he cocks his head at me andfinallyblinks again. "Nah, I'm good. Would you like me to make you do something?"

He feeds me another grape, his gaze dipping to my lips as he watches me pluck it from between his fingers with my teeth.

"No," I tell him.

Maybe.

He stares at me, watching me chew. His gaze is pensive as he says, "I do have one request, though."

"What's that?" I ask after I swallow.

His tongue flicks across his two top teeth, and he should never be allowed to do that again. People have started wars over less, I'm sure.

"Show me," he tells me, his dark gaze locked on me.

Wait . . . what did he just say?

"What?" I ask, certain I heard him wrong.

"Show me, baby girl," he murmurs, still staring at me, his dark eyes painted black in the low light of this room. No person should have eyes that dark like two black pools that catch you by the feet and pull you under. Yet I can't look away from him.

My heart batters my sternum like a hard rain falling to dry earth as a flush creeps from the top of my cheeks and down my throat. I swallow, feeling it burn across my flesh as it does.

"Why?" I ask him.

"I told you that I want all of you," he says to me like that should explain it. "And that means all of your bloody parts too."

His words don't explain anything, though. People say that sort of shit all the time, yet they don't want to go full-on gynecologist and see what's going on in my panties. I swallow again, trying to unstick the lump that growing in my throat and turning off my air.

"Or I could go to the bathroom," I manage.

"I'll let you go after . . ."

"I know, I know," I interrupt. "After I eat something."

He grins, giving me a glimpse of his white teeth. "Smart girl, but not just that, not today. You're doing so well. I want more than that now."

"More than that?" I murmur as he steps forward, stealing the space between us and claiming it for himself.

He nods, stepping forward again before he tips forward so that we're at eye level as he utters his words.

"I want three things actually," he tells me.

My heart is going to hammer itself right out of my chest to flop like a fish on the floor any minute now. He's so close that it assaults all of my senses.

I see, hear, taste, smell, andalmosttouch him.

Chiseled cheekbones and demon-colored eyes.

Campfires and charcoal.

Cigarettes and peppermint.

Radiating warmth that peppers my skin.

It's too much, and he's not even touching me . . . yet.
