“Go find her and bring her back to the palace, tonight,” my father commands through gritted teeth. He doesn’t have to tell me twice, but before I have a chance to disappear into the night to find Rosalie, he reaches out and halts me. “Loyalty and duty are an admirable quality, but make sure she knows that once you are married her loyaltieswilllie with us,” he warns me.

I give him a curt nod and see Greyson rushing out the back of the ballroom. I head out of the ballroom through a side door that leads me back into the palace, then follow the winding corridor around the palace until it brings me out to the front, where I see Greyson shaking his head as a black limousine drives away. Shit. We were too late.

“Greyson,” I call out to him. He turns around toward me and his face drops. I rush over to him, and he gives me a sad look.

“I couldn’t stop her,” he says.

“What happened? Why is she leaving? Is everything okay?” I ask him, placing a hand on his shoulder.

“There was a fire. That’s all I know,” he says.

“Is she okay?” I ask as nerves wind their way around my body.

“I hope so, she looked distraught as she ran out of here. What do you want to do?”

“We should follow. We should be there for her. I promised her that she could count on me, guess tonight is the first test of our new relationship. I don’t want to stay here, not now I’ve announced to everyone that I’ve chosen her. You should have seen them, Grey, the disdain over her. The women were horrified, I know her father wasn’t a good guy but that was him, not her. She is not their father,” I explain to Greyson.

“Fuck them, Auggie. None of those women in there was right anyway. I would rather follow a fallen angel than be in bed with a righteous one,” Greyson states angrily. “Let’s go and be there for your princess.”

“Ourprincess,” I correct him. I need him to know she will beours, especially after what happened in the garden earlier.

A smile falls across his lips. “Ours,” he reiterates.

“Now, come on … we have a princess to rescue.”

ROSALIE

Walking off into the darkness through the palace gardens, I’m still in disbelief that the prince chose me. Especially after he watched his guard eat me out. Hottest thing, ever. And then add in the fact he and his guard are lovers too, mind-blowing.

I did it.

I’ve saved Magnolia from Dante. I’m going to be able to pay off our father’s debts with the engagement money and Valerius won’t be able to control us anymore.

I fucking did it.

And to add to it all, the prince and his guard seem nice, not assholes, plus they agreed that I can have my own set of lovers too after I’ve produced an heir. Not sure how quickly I’m wanting children, but I know it will be expected of me sooner rather than later. At least I know I’m sexually attracted to my soon-to-be husband, only problem is I’m also attracted to his guard. Look, if the prince says that what happened in the garden tonight was a one-time thing, then I will respect it. Wonder if they will let me watch the two of them together? That would be so hot.Get your mind out of the gutter, Rosalie.

My phone starts ringing, and I answer it.

“Rosie,” Skylar calls out my name frantically.

“Sky, what’s the matter. Are you okay?” My brain finally kicks in, computing the fear in my sister’s voice.

“The palace is on fire,” she chokes back through her tears.

“What?”

The palace?

As in our palace?

I don’t understand.

No.

“We must go.Now!” she screams down the phone.
