Conall snorted. "Then we'll allhaveto go, or he'll get us into trouble again."

Hywel hurried back to sit at my side, drawing my legs up over his lap and patting them, his eyes bright with excitement. "Ready," he called, and Laszlo dropped the needle gently.

The truth was, I didn't really care about treasure, whether it was valuable or curious or mythical. I cared about these men. I cared about the life we chased after, fought for, celebrated in.

I returned Asterion's patience and generosity by always remaining at his side. I thanked Conall for the life and vigor he'd gifted me by thrusting it back at him with all the strength I had in me. I met Laszlo's study and diligence and refused to let him sink into stagnancy, constantly drawing change into his life, new curiosities to absorb him. I treasured Hywel, in all his greedy and never-ending hunger, because he matched me perfectly.

"Are you getting tired, my love?" I asked as Hywel yawned and stretched out on the couch.

He grinned, sharp and hungry. "Oh,blodyn bach, I have many centuries left before I rest," he said, rolling toward me, pinning me against a chuckling Conall. We caught the eye of Asterion and Laszlo, and my endless appetite stirred in satisfaction. I'd been patient, but it was time for a reunion of our little family.

"Good," I said, nipping at Hywel's lips. "Because I have plans for you. For all of us, as a matter of fact."

THE END.
