Talon leaned his back against the wall and crossed his arms over his chest. “Ten years ago, I broke into her house, bled all over her kitchen, and she pulled a bullet out of me.”

Lucky’s eyes went wide, “She’s the one who saved your life?”

“Yeah,” Talon agreed. “So I told her to keep the bullet, and I’d owe a marker.”

“Cassie’s mom?” Lucky asked.

Forearms on the back of his chair, Gate said, “You know that girl?”

“Yeah,” Lucky said. “She’s cool. And she’sfine.” He shrugged, “I can see where she gets it.”

“This doesn’t explain why Sweet hates you now,” Rooster observed.

“We met up again, a few months ago. The night Rosie got hit,” Talon said.

“Crazy night,” Stash said. “When’d you have time to score a babe?”

“I went over her back fence, trying to dodge Spider’s assholes. She was already out there with a pistol in her hand, ready to shoot whoever showed up, so I hauled her ass back into her house.”

“And fucked her,” Deuce guessed.

“That happened later on River Street,” Talon sighed.

“Still not seeing the problem,” Tex shook his head.

Brick set his weight forward, “She has that bullet on a necklace. Means she wore it. And she thought about you when she did. She thought you remembered her.”

Talon nodded, “Yep.”

“And you fucked her like a random piece of ass,” Stash guessed.

Talon dropped his head back against the wall, “I did not handle all that with care.”

“You want back in there?” Deuce asked.

“I don’t think I ever left,” Talon answered the ceiling.

“Well, that woman in there doesn’t know it,” Gate said. “And neither does your brother who’s been trying his damnedest not to fall in love with her.”

“He know about us?” Talon shot Gate a look.

“If he does, she told him,” Gate said. “I didn’t.”

“He knows,” Deuce offered.

Talon glared at his brother who seemed to know more about his woman than he did.

Deuce shrugged, “First night she showed. Sparks flying between the two of you, but she’s with him. I worked in such a way I got some answers. Truth is, you didn’t just piss her off. You hurt her.”

Talon shoved his hands in jeans, curled his fingers around a silver necklace, and wondered how he could fix what he didn’t know he’d broken.

Gate

The brothers filed out of chapel and into the common room, where Gate could see Ryder and Jenna sitting close at the bar.

Talon growled low, so Gate put a hand to his shoulder.
