“Get some food before you think about drinking the rest of that,” Saul admonished. “Drunk bunnies are not happy bunnies the morning after.”

“I’m not hungry.” She narrowed her eyes at him. “Don’t even think about spanking me.”

“I’m thinking about doing more than just spanking you,” he muttered. In a move similar to Jasper’s, he stood and deposited her in the chair. “We missed a few steps in your routine today, so we’ll just have to make up for it.”

She curled up in the chair as he walked over to the coffee table and perused the offerings. With a word from Connie, Archie disappeared, only to return with a handful of plates, and Saul started filling one as he and Connie talked quietly.

Trying not to think about Jasper and their newfound sibling relationship while he wasn’t there to fill in the gaps in her knowledge, her thoughts switched over to what he’d said earlier.

She recognizes dominance when she sees it, she just hasn’t quite put the pieces together yet.

Doms and subs. Dominance. Spankings.

Sipping the wine, Caera mulled that around in her head until the glass was empty, and her head was swimming slightly. Maybe her lips were a little numb, too. Bravery she didn’t know she possessed bubbled to the surface as she assessed the remaining people in the room with narrowed eyes.

“I guess you’re all dominant?” she demanded bluntly, blurting the words with a thick tongue as her brain-to-mouth filter died completely. “Well, not you,” she decided, tilting the empty glass in Anarchy’s direction. “You is not.”

“Ah, fuck,” Saul hissed. He came back to her, stealing the glassware from her fingers and setting it on the floor. One finger caught her under the chin, tipping her head back, then a reluctant smile teased his mouth. “Congratulations, little rabbit, you’re officially tipsy. Here, eat some of this and soak up the wine, all half a glass of it.”

Caera beamed at him. “I don’t think I’d like to do that.”

Thane snorted, then grunted as Connie smacked his arm.

“Eat something, Caera.” Saul’s tone hardened slightly.

She couldn’t help herself, she giggled. “Gonna spank me again?”

“Note to self, alcohol turns you into a brat.” Waving the plate of food under her nose, he crouched in front of her. “Think very carefully about what’s going to come out of your mouth next, bunny.” Something wicked gleamed in his eyes to match the slow spread of his grin. “Not one of these guys will blink an eye if I strip your ass bare and turn it pink.”

She moaned, completely involuntary, and the wiseass part of her brain warmed by the wine wanted him to follow through with the subtle threat. Warily, she reached out and selected a cube of cheese, much to his obvious amusement.

“You’re having a busy night.” Saul didn’t sound thrilled. “I felt guilty enough surprising you with a potential brother, without adding in BDSM. Although,” he muttered to himself, “you don’t seem too shocked by the revelation.”

Popping the cheese in her mouth, she chewed slowly, suddenly aware of how hungry she really was. She took another piece, waiting until she swallowed before saying, “The signs were there. Jasper just confirmed my suspish—shushpis—suspicions.”

“He did, did he?”

“Mmm-hmm. Could’ve told me yourself.” Eyes on his, Caera nibbled on her snack.

He laughed, shaking his head. “That would’ve gone down well, wouldn’t it? Need I remind you that you took one look at me and passed out? If I’d introduced myself as a Dom, there would have been a cartoon-style character outline in the side of Atticus’ cabin.”

“I was naked,” she retorted primly.

“Yes,” he purred darkly, “you certainly were. Just the way I like you.”

She almost dropped her cheese. The way he said it…suddenly the wine wasn’t the only thing going to her head. Her thighs clamped together, protecting the rush of warmth gathering between them. “There are people, Saul.”

“They’re my friends, little rabbit. They’re your friends now, too.” Setting the plate aside, he ran his hand up the length of her thigh, exacerbating the ache making itself known in her womb. “And they wouldn’t give a fuck if I devoured you right now while your cheeks are rosy with wine and your mind’s just a little scrambled.”

Flustered, Caera darted glances at the other women, at Thane, and thought she was probably glowing like a candle. The wine didn’t seem like such a good idea now, not when her thoughts were starting to cloud the longer Saul looked at her like she should be on the plate. “I thought you said no sex until Friday?”

His eyebrow lifted. “Who said anything about sex?”

“I…but…no sex?”

“It should be illegal for you to be this adorable.” Chuckling, he placed his hands on the arms of the chair and leaned forward, boxing her in as he kissed her. “No sex until Friday. Plenty of kissing until then.”

“Stop teasing the girl, Saul.” Jasper reappeared in the doorway, apparently calmer than when he left. The knuckles on his right hand were scraped and bloodied, but he didn’t seem to care. “She needs some color in her cheeks, but she’s about to self-combust.”
