“And let me guess, me being with Olivia is a problem?”

“I’m looking out for her best interest.”

“The way I see it, you’re looking out foryourbest interest.”

“My interest is her best interest.”

I drop my hands and take a step closer to him. “Olivia’s a grown adult. She can make her own decisions, and I won’t let her father scare me away. If she doesn’t want to be with me, she’ll have to tell me herself.”

He glances around my shop before meeting my gaze and squaring his shoulders. “You’ve got a nice shop here. I’d hate to see something happen and you lose it.”

I huff out a laugh. “Are you threatening me?”

“All I’m saying is it would be best if you no longer see my daughter. I know all about your past, and I won’t let you tarnish her reputation.”

“You don’t know shit about me or my past. Either way, Olivia knows me. And she has chosen to be with me.”

He takes a step closer and leans in. “Unfortunately, you think you know my daughter. The only thing she cares about is what I put in her bank account. She’s led a very easy life and I know she won’t give all that up to be with someone who doesn’t reach her standards. Like I said, it’s best if you just let her go before she gets hurt.”

I scoff. “I’m not scared of you or your empty threats.”

“Fine, then.” He retreats and reaches for the inside pocket of his suit jacket and holds out a piece of paper. When I stare at it, he nods for me to take it. I snatch it from his grasp and slowly unfold the paper. “It’s a check for ten-thousand dollars. It’s all yours. Maybe you buy yourself some new tools for your shop. But stay away from my daughter.”

I stare down at the five digits written in pen. I won’t lie, I could find a lot of use for this money. But that’s not me. I don’t take threats. I don’t take bribes. “Now it’s my turn to say something. It would be in your best interest to get the fuck out of my shop.” I hold the check out in front of me and rip it in half, tossing the two pieces of paper in his face until they flutter to the ground.

He narrows his eyes at me as we have a stare off. There’s no way I’m backing down. If we were in the Wild West, it would be a draw on who would pull their pistol from their holster first. Finally, he turns on his heel and storms out the open overhead door.Bang. Bang.I clench and unclench my fists at my side. Who does he think he is? Coming in here and demanding anything from me.

A few minutes later, Jay steps up next to me. “What was that about?”

“Olivia’s dad coming here with empty threats and trying to bribe me to stay away from her. He doesn’t like the big, bad biker with his daughter.”

Jay reaches down and picks up the two pieces of paper and holds them together. “Damn. That’s all? You’d figure his daughter would be worth more than that.”

“He’s a piece of shit.” I grab the pieces of paper from him and shove them in my pocket. This is one thing I can’t keep secret from Olivia.

THIRTY-THREE

CUTTING TIES

Olivia

Nothing is worse than having to sit at your desk all day, turned on, because the highlight reel of the weekend plays on repeat in your head. All I want to do is text Ledger and have a lunch break sexting session, but he told me he had a big job he needed to finish today. But after work, it’s game on. Or sex on is more like it.

My phone buzzes on the desk next to me. My heart skips a beat. Maybe he finished early.

Ledger

Your dad just paid me a visit at my shop.

My jaw hits the desk. What the hell was my dad doing visiting Ledger?

Olivia

What did he want?

Ledger

Told me to stay away from you.
