“You got that right,” he says with a lazy grin.

I’m feeling incredibly flirty, and a tad naughty, so I let my hips sway a little extra just for him. Then I launch my ball down the lane and drop nine of the ten pins. I give a whoop and whirl around.

Kane smirks and marks my score down on the card. “Think you can get that last one?” he asks, a challenging gleam in his eyes.

I cross my arms, waiting for my ball to return. “Without a doubt,” I say confidently.

“Why don’t we make things interesting?” Kane stands up and strolls over. “A bet maybe?”

“What kind of bet?” I ask and place a hand on my hip.

“Let me think. I’m going to grab us a couple of beers. I’ll let you know in a minute.”

I watch him saunter away and bite my lip, swooning a little.Big, alpha male.I’ve never met anyone quite like Kane Maddox. I’ve spent my life surrounded by strong men, but Kane takes it to a whole other level of deliciousness.

When he returns, I accept the beer. “Thanks.”

He clinks his bottle against mine. “Happy Birthday, Sai.”

After we each take a drink, Kane eyes me closely. “So what’s your bet?” I ask.

“If I win, you come back to my place for a birthday cocktail.”

I can’t help but snort at his word choice. “A cocktail, huh? And if I win?”

“What do you want?” he asks, voice gravelly.

“Let me think on it,” I say with a breezy smile. Then I grab my ball, glide across the floor and knock the last pin down.

Kane marks my score down and grins. “Nice,” he says. Then he gets up, grabs his ball and steps onto the floor.

I’m not sure what to expect since he said he hasn’t been bowling in a while. So when he gets a strike and pumps his fist into the air, I narrow my eyes. “You haven’t played in a while?” I ask, suspicious.

He laughs. “It’s been years,” he says. “That was pure luck.”

Hmm.Maybe, but my competitive side comes out full-force and I’m determined to take him down. A few beers and two games later, we’re tied. I won the first game and he won the second.

I’m feeling more frisky than cutthroat at this point, and we’re getting handsy. When I only knock down four pins, creating alovelysplit with my next ball, Kane laughs and grabs me, lifting me right up off the ground, and spinning me in a circle.

The world gets blurry and I squeal. When he finally sets me back down, I turn and look up at him, feeling so many different emotions. I came so close to losing this magnificent man. Suddenly, I’m so caught up in the intense feelings he’s bringing out that I don’t care as much about the game anymore.

But I’m a competitor at heart and, after I win, then I’ll deal with all these foreign feelings.

“My turn isn’t over,” I say. He lets out a sigh as I slide past him. But when I slap his ass as I go by, his jaw drops. He turns to look at me with wide hazel eyes.

“You’re feisty tonight,” he says, gaze glowing with an almost predatory look.

“What can I say? You bring out my playful side.” I let the ball launch and get a spare. “Beat that, big guy,” I say and stab a finger against his chest. Before I can react, Kane wraps his fingers around my hand, lifts it and presses a kiss to its back. My heart begins to thump madly.

We share a long, heated look before he lets go and takes his turn. When he tosses the ball and it only knocks down one pin, I chuckle. But when his next roll goes in the gutter, I may giggle a little too deviously. “What happened?” I ask and sidle past him.

“Guess I was distracted.”

Yeah, me too, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to lose. I get a solid strike and skip back over to our seats. Kane smirks, goes up to take his turn and gets another gutterball. Narrowing my eyes, I frown and wonder if he’s losing on purpose.

“Are you letting me win?” I ask suspiciously.

“Who? Me?”
