Trying hard not to cry, and failing miserably, I stare at the charm as it blurs in front of me. I can’t believe how lucky I am to be able to call this wonderful man all mine. “This means so much,” I whisper. “Thank you.”
“Please, don’t cry,” he says and reaches over to swipe a tear away with his thumb.
“It’s the most thoughtful gift anyone ever gave me.” I pull his hand against my cheek and hold it there.
“And it’s kind of funny, too,” he says. “Could have multiple meanings, you know?”
My mouth edges up in a smile and I nuzzle my face against his palm. I can practically see the eyebrow waggle he’s doing, but I’m too emotional to actually look and confirm it. “Yeah,” I admit. “If anyone asks, I’m going to tell them to take a guess. That oughta be fun. But I’ll always know it’s you and me.”
“It always was, babe,” he says with a grin.

After Kane helps me attach the new charm on my anklet, we go to Fallon and Ryan’s place. The moment we sit down on the couch side by side and hold hands, my girls squeal.
“I knew it!” Eden exclaims.
Later that evening, Kane and I are sitting side by side on the couch and when we reach for each other and hold hands, my girls squeal.
“I knew it!” Eden exclaims.
“I’m so happy you two finally got over yourselves,” Fallon says, blue eyes glowing.
They both jump up and usher me away from the guys.
“Be back in a minute,” Eden announces.
Once we’re alone in the bedroom, they turn on me as one and I pinball my gaze back and forth between them as they bombard me with questions.
“How did it finally happen?”
“When exactly did it happen?”
“How’s the sex?”
“Did he say he loves you?”
“Did you tell him how you feel?”
“Oh, my God, Sai, spill it! We’re dying!”
I can’t help but laugh, but then I get serious when I think over their questions. “I used to think we were so different. But when I stopped looking at the differences and started looking at the similarities, that’s when things changed.”
After sharing a few things with them, I get quiet. I don’t want to give up too many personal details, but I tell them we love each other and that the sex is flipping outstanding.
“He’s a dirty-talker in bed, isn’t he?” Eden presses, a glint in her caramel eyes.
I feel my face flush and the answer is all over my burning cheeks.
“I knew it!” she exclaims. “Colt, too.”
Fallon chuckles. “Ryan, three.”
We all burst out laughing and hug each other fiercely. “I missed you two so much,” I say.
My gaze drops to Eden’s slightly-rounded belly. “How’re you feeling?” She and Colt are expecting and this will be the first Slater Security baby, so it’s super exciting.
“Except for the morning sickness, I feel really good.”
