“With the BIH involved, Arkan and your father are in trouble. They may have enough information to pick them up, if not, they will.”

“They haven’t paid for anything. Boris said earlier that dad has someone on the inside. It means that neither of them will pay for their crimes.”

She thought they were going to get away. We weren’t waiting for the judicial system to give us justice.

Anya was delusional if she thought they were going to escape. Felix’s time was up. I intended to find out what the Albanians had done to her. Then, I would kill them too.

“We are his justice.”

Tilting her chin, I rubbed my finger across her lips. “It was a good choice for you to stay with me.”

“You left me no choice. You forced me to do it.”

I stepped back. “Ben, she's changed her mind.”

There was no way that I would allow her to hide. She caved to save Vadim. She would be made to own up to her decision.

Anya held up her hand. “I’m not changing my mind Cian. Why would you murder an innocent man? It's safer for him to know nothing. He has nothing to do with the Aslanov family and he isn’t a made man.”

“He’s a target because you love him. He chose to be with you. If you wanted him to live a long life, you should’ve stayed away from him.

Her mouth opened. “Asshole. Why do you care who I love, suck or fuck? You intend to give me to your father to be killed, so spare me the bullshit.”

“I care because you’re mine. This boy was never going to be your future husband and you know that. Now that you have gone missing, where do you think your father will go? Felix would never allow you to marry anyone outside of the mob. Your duty is to further his connection, wealth, and safety. Your happiness was never Felix’s concern. Deep within you know that I’m telling you the truth.”

A single tear fell from her eye.

Ben swore. “I know it’s not often that you want a woman, but I agree with her. You can’t have her. She’s the enemy.”

Keelan shook his head. “Save your breath. We had better find a way to keep Liam from strangling him. Cian has that stubborn look in his eyes.”

She sighed. “I've sacrificed everything for everyone. Why are you so determined to take him away from me? You don’t know me. You can have any woman so choose someone else.”

I forced her to look at me. “I’m not your father. If you stay with me and don’t try to run, I won't kill him. Your father will kill him because he must control you. Your enemies know about him and will use him to draw you out of hiding. Who do you think they will use as bait?”

Anya jerked away from me. “He’s not your business. After I come back, I will bargain with your father for my freedom. I don’t belong to you.”

“Do you want to die with him?”

“Yes. The day he dies is the day I do too.”

My mouth quickly opened but I recovered. Something deep inside me confirmed that she meant what she said. I was glad that she warned me. I wasn’t going to allow her to commit suicide. I might need to have a few men protect this woman.

I grabbed her wrist. “Your vision of being with your high school boyfriend is a fairy tale. I may be cruel but I'm honest. You will never be able to marry him.”

“He loves me for me. You have no idea who I am. My life doesn’t concern you. Don’t make the mistake of thinking that it does.”

We had reached the door, when Keelan moved in the way. “You know that we always have your back, but you’ve got to give us something. Liam is going crazy. Now is not the time for him to lose his shit. Your messages are not enough. It wouldn’t kill you to talk to him so that he can see for himself that you are well.”

“As soon as I get the disk unencrypted, I’ll give you the evidence. You can give it to him. It will occupy some of his thoughts.”

Ben shook his head. “No, it won’t. He needs to see you. Nothing short of him seeing you will appease him. There is a lot going on that you don’t know about which is another reason you need to visit him now.”

Whoever blabs to my father will get a bullet in the head. Their shocked faces showed they were aware of my violent tendencies, which were usually well hidden. I was more like my father than he knew. It was ironic because it was his deepest wish for me. It wouldn’t be long before my father discovered that I was seven shades of fucked up. The time for everyone to underestimate and mistreat me was over. A part of me wanted to shield that side of me from Anya. The relationship blogs were right. One should start a relationship exactly how he intended to finish. My true self would not be hidden from her.

I can't expect her to love me if she doesn't know who I am.

Without another delay, I led her outside to my bike. I handed her my helmet. “Princess your chariot awaits.”
