He shook his head. “You mean since he married her. You were just a beautiful as the bride.”

Fuck he can always track me from this damn implant.

“She’s, my sister. It has recently become clear to me that there is no way I can get out of this alive. I wanted to see her. Every woman deserves to look beautiful one day and that day just happened to be her wedding day.”

I walked out of the restroom and into Boris. I smirked. “Did you change your mind?”

“No, you’re taking too long. Let’s go. Mila will be back at home tonight even if I must take her from Viktor’s hideaway.”

My stomach was in knots. I was worried for Mila. Once she was back at home underneath Boris’s thumb, he could do anything he wanted to her. I had never seen him be so jealous before but this time was different. He wasn’t a fool, he knew that deep down Mila had chosen Viktor, which meant Boris wouldn’t be kind to her anymore. He was more dangerous than our father.

My black bomber jacket, and skinny jeans and beanie cap would allow Mila to recognize me easily. I never walked out of the house wearing anything like this and it would get her attention. It wasn’t long before I spotted Mila. Boris and the others were hidden watching this scene, and I hated I had to betray her like this. I was certain my face was expressionless as I rushed to her side.

Mila backed up until she saw me. “Are you ok? It was not safe to come here. Let’s go.”

Mila tried to drag me in the opposite direction but I dug my feet in and resisted.

“Anya what is wrong with you. It’s not safe here.”

I squeezed her tight. My lips were so close to her ear my warm peppermint breath fanned over her earlobe. “I’m sorry. No matter what happens, I love you and I’m on your side.”

Mila’s body stiffened. She tried to push me away. “What have you done?”

Suddenly the bright lights came on around me. Looking in every direction, she saw dozens of men rushing towards her. Mila’s glared at me before she took off running.

“No Mila don’t run.” I tried to reach her but strong arms lifted me off the ground.

I watched in horror as small electrodes attached to her legs, chest, and arms. Mila growled and ripped off the wires on her legs.

Zap.

Blood shot out of Mila’s nose, as her body continued to convulse from the high current going through her. A high-pitched scream tore through her. By the time the electricity stopped Mila was crying and she was face first on the ground. The man who was now torturing my sister had a black bandana over his face and black boots. He pulled his face covering down. His crooked teeth were rotten and black to the gums.

He bent down to speak to Mila. “Nighty night bitch.” His fist went flying toward her face.

Mila’s body slumped forward.

Jerking loose. I picked up a rock and threw it in his face before I realized I was beating the shit out of him.

Nobody hurts Mila.

Boris aimed a gun at me. “Put Mila in the car. I don’t have time for this shit.”

I frowned. Boris wasn’t protecting Mila. In fact, he looked elated they had shocked the hell out of her. This shit was bad. He intended to make Mila pay for marrying Viktor.

Fuck. Oh god Mila. What have I done?

Boris smiled. “Did you think I would protect that bitch after she betrayed me? My days of protecting that slut are over.”

I slid inside the car grateful that Mila was out cold. Soon enough she would wake up in hell and she would feel I had betrayed her.

What does it say about me that my own sister doesn’t believe I love her? I might act like our father but I’ve always loved her.

“Pretty girl, have you come down to watch the show?” Boris asked.

I smiled. “This is a family affair. Get lost.”
