We wait until we hear the front door close.

He takes a step towards me as if he’s not tried to ruin my life today.

“I need to understand why you did it.”

“You don’t need to understand a thing. I told you to wait for me before you enter my home, and you chose not to.”

“I can’t believe you study law yet know nothing about it. I. Had. Permission.”

Casper takes another step forwards. I’m far too angry to be intimidated by him. I straighten my back and stare into his cold eyes.

“You know you’re in the wrong here,” I say.

“I’m not pressing charges.”

My head almost implodes. “And you think that makes it okay? What the fuck is wrong with you?”

“You’re what’s wrong with me!”

“Oh my God, we’ve been over this. Your mum let me go in!”

He pinches the bridge of his nose. “That’s not what I’m talking about.”

“Then, what the hell is this about? Do you have any idea how scary and humiliating it is to be arrested? I’ll never forgive you for that. Not that you care because you don’t have a heart.”

His eyes go dark as he takes another step towards me, and he doesn’t stop until his toes touch my trainers.

My heart thumps harder, almost making me dizzy, but I refuse to allow him to bother me. Rage radiates from him and, for once, he’s not doing so well at controlling himself.

“What are you doing?” My protest is meek and pathetic. “Casper.”

I could back up and put some distance between us but, for some reason, I can’t move. Not at all.

All he has to do is reach out and he could strangle me.

Not if I get there first.

Come on, legs, let’s get going.

Tilting my head, I look him dead in the eye.

It’s a mistake because I see something in his expression that turns my brain to mush.

Lust.

Fuck.

CHAPTERNINETEEN

“What’re you doing?” I mutter, my words spoken too quickly, jumbling together.

He doesn’t answer, but the way he’s looking at me right now, we don’t need words. Fuck that, I’m not letting him overwhelm me. I’m still so beyond furious. He can’t turn the charm on and expect that I’ll just come around.

“Casper.” I put my hand on his chest and shove. “No, you don’t get to do this after today.” I push his rock-hard chest again, wishing I had knives for fingers so I could totally go Edward Scissorhands and shred those abs.

He doesn’t move an inch.

His hand clasps mine, pinning it to his chest. I’ve made ahugeerror touching him.
