I’d never thought I would find someone like Liv. I never thought I would love, let alone get married, but she was my soulmate, my other half, and without her, I was nothing.

We walked through the crowd, and they threw rose petals over us, raining blessing and happiness down our future together.

We smiled for the camera, before I picked Liv up and spun her around, showing her off for the world to see.

I loved this woman.

“Now that Iknow it’s all over, it changes everything,” I said to Rory, at the reception. We stood at the bar, she with a glass in her hand, and me with a glass of whiskey.

“It does,” Rory said with a smile, glancing at Liv, where she talked to some of our wolf shifter friends. She’d settled into the community so well, and now that she’d fully accepted her magical side, she’d really become one of us.

“I’m so glad she saved you,” Rory added.

“She saved me in so many ways,” I said.

I was safe. I was healthy. Rory had tested me again after Liv’s magical display, and my blood had been perfect, as if there had never been a problem at all.

I was still worried, though. What if we had children, and they ended up having it, anyway?

“It’s really gone, Colter,” Rory said when I mentioned it. “You can’t pass on something you don’t have.”

Liv walked toward us, and I wrapped my arm around her, tucking her into my side. Her body fit perfectly against mine, and she smiled up at me with adoration in her eyes.

“What are you talking about?” she asked.

“Just how well things turned out,” Rory said with a smile.

“Oh, yes,” Liv breathed. “Better than I ever could have dreamed. And I still can’t believe that how well the blood machine is working now. So many people and enchanted beings will be helped. And this is all because of you.” She cupped my cheek and stood on her toes to kiss me.

Mykel came toward us. He was surprisingly still sober, and he looked dashing in his suit. He’d already lost his tie, though, and his hair was ruffled.

“Where have you been?” I asked.

He shrugged. “I made out with someone in the bathroom.”

“Classy,” Rory said with a chuckle.

“Hey, Liv didn’t have any other bridesmaids I could sleep with, so I had to get creative.” He grinned at us.

Liv rolled her eyes, and Rory burst out laughing.

I playfully punched him in the shoulder.

Mykel ordered a glass of whiskey at the bar and threw it back before promptly ordering another.

When he glanced at us all staring at him, he shrugged.

“I have catching up to do. I don’t have anyone to drink with now that Lazlo is out of the game.”

I rolled my eyes, and a growl pushed up my throat. Just hearing that SOB’s name pissed me off.

“How are things with the vampires?” I asked Mykel, who’d been at the lab the last couple of days, making sure everything was smooth sailing.

“Eh, they’re not happy, but when the fuck are the vampires ever happy? You just can’t win with those guys, you know? Pathetic undead piece of shit wastes of space,” he said and continued happily calling them every curse word under the sun.

Liv and Rory both laughed.
