“I can’t send Mykel; I need him here. And the other shifters aren’t powerful enough. You’re the most powerful sibling team I’ve ever seen, and if anyone can find him, it’s you.”

Rory bristled. I knew she didn’t want to go, but I was giving her a direct order.

“What about my job?”

“We’ll figure it out. I’m sure I can find you a spot there. Use it as your cover.”

Rory's brows raised. “What if I don’t find him? Or what if it’s something else? He’s a free agent. He can do whatever he likes.”

“It doesn’t feel right,” I responded. “I don’t like this. Bishop—the alpha in Minneapolis—isn’t known for being merciful, so it’s already a problem if Turk’s fallen into the alpha’s hands after he pledged his loyalty to me. It can become a turf war, at best.”

“If the alpha has him, going to get him back is exactly what will cause the war. You know that,” Rory intoned.

“We have to try, Rory. We stick together. I’m loyal to the pack, and in return, they’re loyal to me. It’s my job to look after them.”

She sighed, shaking her head, but I knew she would go. She would do anything I asked her. She wasn’t just a loyal friend but a loyal shifter in my pack.

“It better not take long,” she said.

“If you go, I’m sure it won’t. Maybe it’s just a mix-up, and there’s nothing to worry about.”

“Yeah,” Rory said.

Neither of us believed it, and that was why I needed her there. If there was any shifter I trusted to be my eyes and ears over there, it was Rory.

“Thanks for doing this, Rory,” I said.

“Anytime, alpha,” she said before she turned and left.
