Colter’s eyes changed, becoming darker when I begged for it. He liked being in control.

Iblinked my eyes open, squinting in the bright light that fell through the window. The curtains were sheer and didn’t keep out the morning light at all.
When I glanced at the clock on the wall—our phones didn’t work here with no signal—it looked like it was before six.
The sun set late and rose early here.
