A fox.

The fiery red hair, the strong, quiet attitude, the uncertainty and nerves around shifters much bigger and stronger than she was. It all fell into place.

Still, she had a strength to her that was nothing like what I’d felt before. She was powerful, and she had added abilities. There were few foxes around, but I knew they had added powers.

“We’ll figure it out,” Oaklee said.

I nodded, and my magic responded to hers.

“We will.”

She kissed me, and this time, I didn’t fight anything I felt. I let my lust, my need, my aching desire for her take over. We were already bound.

Jameson accepted me for who I was. I didn’t know how I knew—maybe it was the bond that let me feel his acceptance even when he didn’t put it into words. I’d never been this close to someone before.

The feeling of being completely understood and completely accepted was a new sensation—one I could get used to very quickly.

Jameson leaned in and kissed me, and I poured myself into him. I was becoming very attached to him—I guess that was what being bound to someone meant.

I’d always dreamed of fate and soulmates and one day finding a mate, but I’d never thought it would happen to me.

I never thought it might happen like this.

I was the luckiest fox in the world.

“Come with me,” I said and stood. I took Jameson by the hand, and he stood, following me as I led him to the ladder that led to my loft. The ladder groaned under his weight.

When we stood in front of my futon bed, Jameson kissed me again. His tongue slid into my mouth, hot and delicious. He cupped my cheeks, fingers tangled in my hair, and desire coiled at my core. My body awakened with need, and I craved to have Jameson inside of me.

His skin smelled like the cologne he always wore, but underneath it was the scent of his power, his bear, and it was intoxicating. It made my knees go weak, and I melted into my panties with need.

“I missed you,” Jameson mumbled against my skin.

“It hasn’t been that long,” I said.

“It’s been too long,” Jameson answered, and I agreed with him. Since we’d been bound, when I was away from him, I felt like something was inherently missing and yearned for our connection, our bodies colliding so that we were one again.

It sounded too cliché to put to words, so I didn’t dare say it until Jameson had admitted now that he’d missed me.

Jameson’s kisses turned fiery. He ran a hand down my neck and over my shoulder, and goosebumps followed in the wake of his caress. Shivers ran down my spine.

I reached for Jameson’s shirt and peeled it up, rolling it over his body. Usually, when we were at the club, he wore a button-down shirt, but he only wore a t-shirt and jeans now. Seeing him this casually dressed was almost like seeing an intimate side of him, a side he didn’t usually show others.

I ran my hands down his chest, tracing the individual packs of muscle with my fingers. He shivered when I ran my fingers down his V-line, which was delicious and pointed right where I needed to be.

I unbuttoned his jeans and slid my hand over the bulge in his pants, feeling his hardness through his boxers.

Jameson sucked his breath through his teeth, and his eyes changed from deep blue to onyx.

“I love it when you look at me like that,” I whispered.

“Like what?”

“Like you want to eat me,” I said.
