Her hand comes up to slide against my face. “I love you my baseball loving cowboy.”

“Does this mean we can finally throw your birth control away and start our family, too?” I ask.

“Sawyer needs kids his own age in the family, so I’m thinking that’d be a great idea.”

“Thank fuck.”

“Plus, I already threw them away a few days ago. I was going to tell you tonight to celebrate our anniversary.”

“What anniversary?” I ask, confused.

“A year ago today was when I made the decision to move out of Pine Ridge to be with you.”

“Do you miss it?”

“Not at all. You are home, Ryder. Wherever you are is where I want to be.”

Her words slide through me and there’s just as sweet as millions of times she’s told me she loves me or the soft way she touches me and broadcasts her feelings. Only this time, they’re more important, because finally, Tilda Mae Carter is going to wear my ring and build a family with me. It’s a dream I always wanted. I just got a little lost on my way to finding it. Thank God Tillie found me.

We kiss and when I pull back, she’s smiling up at me. “I guess it’s true what they say about you, Ryder.”

“What’s that?”

“You’re guaranteed to break a woman’s headboard but not her heart, because all day, every day, all you do is fill my heart with more love and gratitude. Thank you for giving me a life that I only dreamed could exist, sweetheart.”

“Right back at you, Buttons. Right back at you.”

As I claim her mouth again, I lose myself in her which is how it should be, because I’m not sure I was ever living until she gave me the chance to prove to her that I could be her man.

Now, she’s my world.
