“Nope,” I say. “I’ve seen this. I know how it unfolds. You’ll trigger some kind of alarm and we’ll get fried by red lasers.”

While I check the ceiling to confirm laser guns are about to drop and be pointed at us, Logan takes advantage of my momentary distraction to retrieve the ring from under the protective case. I’m about to protest again when he drops to one knee.

Oh, gosh.

He clears his throat, and I yell, “Yes!”

Logan grins wide, shaking his head. “I had a speech ready, woman. At least let me give it to you.”

I can’t stop beaming at him. “Okay, but my answer will still be a sound yes.”

Logan’s face grows serious, his gaze tender. “Winter, in the short time I’ve known you, you’ve stolen my heart. You are the sun that lights up my day, the breeze that keeps me cool when the world is hot. You’ve been my strength when my own faltered.” He takes my hand in his. “You’re strong and fearless and you’ve been my safe place when everything was crumbling in on us. I know it sounds silly to ask you to marry me after only a couple of months, but to me, it doesn’t feel like months. It feels like a lifetime, and I love you. I love all of you. You’re my soul mate, my best friend, my everything. I want to spend my life with you. I want to share it, laugh with you, cry with you, and make a home with you. I love you, and I want to marry you.”

He clears his throat again. “That was your cue to speak.”

I just nod, because I can’t speak. I’m too choked up. I drop to my knees in front of him and kiss his face, everywhere.I stamp a million kisses on his brows, his forehead, his cheeks, and finally, his mouth.

He’s laughing when I stop at last. His arms circle around me, pulling me tight against him. I’ve never felt so safe, so secure, so complete.

My lips press against his, sharing his breath. “Yes.”

I pull back, keeping my eyes on his. “I love you, Logan. And I want to marry you.”

He takes hold of my hand and slips the beautiful ring on my finger.

Next thing I know, we’re kissing and rolling on the floor of the museum until Logan regains his senses and pulls me up to sit.

“Err, there are no lasers, but I’m pretty sure they have cameras.”

I laugh. “Oh, the security guard must be having a field day.” My gaze drops to his kissed-out full lips. “Does your office have cameras, too?” I ask. I don’t think I can wait until we make it back to the hotel.

With a feral grin, Logan says, “Nope.” He springs upright and offers me a hand to pull me up.

Holding hands, we run across the fake temple chambers and the rest of the museum until we crash into his office.

I’m breathless when we arrive. Logan is too, but he doesn’t waste a single moment to pull my dress over my head and toss it aside before he lays me on his desk and kisses me.

“I’ve wanted to do this since you put that stupid dress on.”

I help him out of his shirt, giving him sexy eyes. “You could’ve just told me you wanted to skip hotel sex for naughtier museum sex.”

Logan chuckles and slides his hand under my inner thigh, pulling me to him. He’s slightly too enthusiastic and makes me lose my balance. To compensate, I lean into him too hard, positively toppling him over. We tumble to the floor in a mess of limbs and tangled, half-discarded clothes.

Half an hour later, we’re still lying on the floor, withnoclothes on, a blanket draped under and around us.

Still slightly out of breath, I stare at the ceiling and ask, “Should I worry you keep a sex blanket in the office?”

Logan guffaws. “Until today, that blanket has only been used for picnics when I took my lunch break outside, before this awful, never-ending rain started.”

I roll to the side, propping my elbow up and resting my head on my hand. “Sorry I ruined your perfectly innocent blanket.”

He grins and traces his fingertip down my cheek before dipping it under my chin to trace down my neck and collarbones. “I’ll get another one.” The touch of his finger against my skin is electric, and I shiver at the feel. I’ll never get enough of this man.

Logan grabs my free hand, suddenly serious, kissing my knuckles and stopping to kiss our engagement ring. “There’s something I wanted to talk to you about.”

“Oh?”

“I know we said we’d adjust our relationship around our work schedules, but I no longer want to live in a different city from you. The moment I get back, I’m going to see if there are any openings in the history department at UCLA.”
