“Just after eleven,” Liam said after checking his watch.

She groaned. “Crap. The person I want to call is on Mountain Time in the US.. I’m going to have to wait.”

Liam put his arm around her, his touch and his scent making her brain turn foggy. “How about we watch a movie then? Linc said we both have the day off.”

Yeah, because she and Liam were part of a big story right now, and he wanted them protected at home. Wilt had even called the mobile home a safe house.

“Jaws?” they said at the same time.

“I’ll leave you,” Sorcha said, rising from her chair, although it was more of a float. “You might try and forget about all of the challenges right now and maybe cuddle on the couch. You two are soulmates, after all.”

Taylor threw a sofa pillow at her, but Sorcha vanished before it went through her. “She’s such a know-it-all.”

Liam laughed. “Come on, soulmate. Let’s get our minds off things for a while. Maybe afterJaws,we can watchMoby Dick?”

“Perfect,” she responded and girded herself to pass the time until she could reasonably make her call.

Cuddling with Liam would help, of course. Truthfully, he redefined cuddling. Not only did he know how to make her aware of every line of his body as his arms held her close—so totally hot—but he’d lean in from time to time to place a kiss somewhere, be it her neck or the line of her shoulder. She couldn’t remember anything, not even her social security number.

Who needed meditation or mindfulness? All the world needed was Liam. He was her personal retreat with a side of smoking sensuality, and she planned to enjoy it.

The credits for the second movie were rolling when she checked the time. “You’ve been doing that every fifteen minutes for the past four hours, Taylor,” Liam said with a low laugh. “I’d hoped the movies were going to take your mind off things, but maybe this will work.”

Suddenly she was in his lap, and he was lowering his head slowly, giving her time to decide. She simply flashed him a smile, which had his mouth curving the moment before his lips covered hers. Man, he could kiss. He poured an intensity of feeling and passion into the act she’d never experienced before, all the while keeping her guessing at how he was going to kiss her next. Her bottom lip? The right corner of her mouth? The seam? Oh, he was a wily one, making her breathless with need, but she could handle it.

She curved her hand around the nape of his neck, tangling her fingers in his thick, gorgeous hair, and opened her mouth to him. He gave an answering groan, which had her mind snapping shut again as she fell into a sea of sensation. His breath touched her lips as he kissed them, softly and then urgently. She moaned, making him tuck her closer to his body. Electricity danced between them, and all she wanted to do was devour him whole.

When he pressed back, he remained poised over her. She had to fight to keep her eyes open at the glorious view as she moaned.

“Do you have any idea how beautiful you are? How perfect for me? Taylor, I know things are strange right now, but I’m so happy you’re here.”

“Even if you end up in trouble?” she asked softly, pushing a sandy lock of hair back from his forehead. “Because I would hate that.”

“I really don’t see that happening,” he said, kissing her softly on the mouth, “which is why I don’t want you to worry.”

She pushed him straight up. “Right! You’re psychic. You’d know if anything bad were going to happen.”

He bit his lip to keep from laughing. “Hopefully.”

Her muscles went lax with relief. “Whew!”

“But the energy can change,” he said.

“I should sock you for that,” she replied, but all she wanted to do was stroke the strong jaw she adored. “It’s weird. I never imagined trusting anyone with my secret again, and I told you everything after knowing you for a hot second.”

He kissed the corner of her mouth, making a sigh float out of her. “I have a news bulletin for you. It’s because I’m your soulmate.”

She wanted to glare at him. She really did. But her smile couldn’t be contained. “I really am starting to like you, you know. Like bigLlike.”

Another kiss, this time to her bottom lip. “I know.”

She laughed and pushed him back further. “All right. Now I am going to make my call. If he doesn’t pick up, he’ll call me back.”

“You know this guy from when you lived in Europe, right?”

She shivered at his mind reading. “I won’t ask how you know that because you know everything. Yeah, from art circles. He’s a great guy.”

Liam turned off the TV. “Trust me. He’ll pick up.”
