Someonehadbeen out here.

Someone who’d wanted to remain a secret.

As he reached the last step, the headlights of his SUV suddenly flashed on, blinding him.

The SUV’s engine roared to life. A second later, the vehicle accelerated toward him.

Duke contemplated what to do.

He was too far from the steps to retreat.

Should he lunge to the left, or to the right?

Those were his only options.

At the last minute, the driver made a sharp turn in the driveway, leaving Duke a narrow window of escape.

The SUV clipped the stairway as Duke dove out of the way into the snow.

Andi screamed above him as the SUV’s rear tires spun precariously close to him, kicking up gravel-laced snow.

Pieces of the rock flung toward him, stinging his skin.

But the driver kept going, headed toward the street.

In Duke’s SUV!

Duke scrambled to his feet.

“Hey!” He darted after the SUV.

But it was no use.

He wouldn’t be able to catch the vehicle.

Instead, Duke paused at the roadway and watched the taillights disappear down the road.

The killerhadbeen here.

At Craig’s house.

Waiting.

Watching.

He’d seen both Duke and Andi.

This guy was willing to kill to keep his secrets.

Did that mean Duke and Andi would be next?

Duke’s stomach clenched.

He didn’t like the thought of that.

He’d failed Celeste.

He had no intentions of failing Andi also.
