“More than ever.”

They hug, clapping each other on the back and rock back and forth a couple times. Summer joins the family hug and the three of them together is a masterpiece to see. It fills my heart to see Dash finally get everything he’s wanted. And the fact my friend Summer can give it to him, makes the circle complete. There’s nothing better than watching two of your greatest friends find love with each other.

“We’ll be there this weekend, Jame.” Summer casts a glance at Dash. “You just get there and get settled.”

Dash breaks from the hug and pegs Jackson with a death glare and a pointed finger. “You take care of my kid until I get there, Gage. I mean it. Anything happens to him and I’m coming for you.”

Jackson cracks up at the ridiculous threat. “Oh, Negative Nancy, how I’ve missed you. Summer, I thought you were working your magic on this guy?” Summer holds Dash tighter as he takes a step towards Jackson.

“You’re lucky your wife is accompanying you two. Her being the chaperone is the only reason I’m letting him go with you.”

“Don’t worry, Dash, I’ll make sure they behave themselves.”

“Okay, okay, shows over.” I clap my hands together and nod towards Francesca. “Get them in the truck before Dash locks him in his room.”

Jameson was just drafted to the North Carolina Warriors. We all knew it was coming, and he’s finally ready to make the jump from college ball to professional athlete. His father, however, is not ready to let go of his little boy. Dash still sees him as the kid tossing the ball through the tire swing in the backyard. Meanwhile, Jameson has brought State Championships to his High School as well as his college team. He’s a man now.

North Pole Polar Bears are on the map for bringing home the NCAA championship trophy this year. The town has exploded with excitement for their team, and it opened up a huge opportunity for Jameson. We’re sad to lose him but I cannot wait to see where he goes next.

I throw my arm around Dash, pulling him into my side, as we watch them drive away. “He’s going to be amazing, man. Nothing to worry about.”

“It’s the first time I haven’t left with him.” Dash says quietly and I get choked up at the admission.

“He’s a professional now, Dash. He can’t have Daddy tagging along with him.” He elbows me in the ribs. “And stop trying to get me to cry, you asshole.” He snickers and we turn towards our girls. “Come on, babe, lets head home and leave these two to themselves. You do know you two are empty nesters now, means you get to have sex on every surface in your house.”

“Jameson lived on campus. We’ve already done that.” Summer snorts.

“Catch you dirty birds later!” Mackenzie and I both laugh, and I help her into my truck. I climb in the drivers side and we take off towards home. Mackenzie and I moved in together shortly after the masquerade ball. Our love was instant, even if she wants to disagree with me so there was no fear of us moving too fast.

I could give a shit if her last name is West or Stoll. I’m going to make it McCall.

Soon.

I lay my hand on her bare leg and inch my hand up her thigh. I catch her smirk from the corner of my eye as she widens her legs slightly. I slip my hand closer to her core and can feel her heat already radiating from her.

“Damn, girl, you want me again so soon?”

She smiles at me.

“I love that smile.” I squeeze her thigh and let my pinky run down the center of her. “What else do those lips do?”

She giggles. “You and your lines, Mark. Got a thing for cheerleaders, do you?”

“Oh, sweetheart, not cheerleaders. Just the coach.” She leans across the console and places a kiss on my cheek. “Mackenzie, no lines. I will always have a thing for you.”

THE END
