I get out my phone and activate the video camera and my voice synthesizer.
“Before I killed Timo Thor and Lincoln Waterston, they told me everything,” I say. “I know who you are. I know what you do. I know where you live. As you can see, I have Kate Atwood and everything she knows.”
Kate shakes her head and fights against her bindings.
“You have fallen under the leadership of a dead man. Anton Ford’s time has come, but you can save yourselves. Anarchy, Inc. has use for you. Return to the Enclave. Be there in six hours, and you’ll find you still have a future.”
I might feel bad lying to my old friends if they hadn’t betrayed me and let Anton tear us apart from the inside out.
“We could burn your entire island to the ground. Don’t forget that. Soon, Death will be at your doorstep.”
Kate smiles around her gag, malice and excitement in her expression. I take out her gag and kiss her, wishing there was time to bed her again, but the clock’s ticking.
“This is the end of the Masters,” I say to her. “Soon this will all be over.”
