“Fair enough.” She kissed him softly, letting her lips cling to his, savoring the hitch in his breath, the pounding of his heart beneath her palm. “I’m glad you waited for me, Harry.”

He shrugged, his eyes brilliant with pleasure. “And I’m glad you’re even more stubborn than I am.”

She slugged his arm. “You take that back.”

He grinned. “Nope. I think we’re a perfect pair.”

“Or at least perfectly imperfect.”

“Does this mean our life is going to bejust peachy?” he asked, making a face.

“I doubt it. It’s going to be messy and sometimes hard, and always wonderful. I love you, Prescott Harrington.”

He kissed her nose. “And I love you, Miss Georgia Peach Blossom.” A huge sigh lifted his chest. “Does this mean we get to have make-up sex now?”

“I thought you’d never ask...”

Epilogue

Cate stood on the sidewalk outside her newly opened shop and greeted people as they entered the store. The numbers had been more than she could have asked for or expected. It seemed everyone in town had shown up.

Even better, Leah and Gabby were walking down the sidewalk in her direction. They each hugged her when they arrived, laughing and smiling.

Gabby, for once, seemed like her old self. “This is amazing, Cate. And so perfectly you. If you ever need me to look over the books or make tax suggestions, I’d be honored.”

Cate took her friend’s face in her hands, trying to communicate how much she had missed her. “I’mhonored that you’reheretoday, Gabby. I think I must have hurt you somehow—earlier in the summer—I don’t know what it was, but I am so very sorry. I hope you’ll forgive me.”

Gabby looked stricken. “Oh, no,” she said. “You didn’t do anything wrong. It was all me. I let my own stuff get in the way of our friendship.”

Leah snorted, her brown eyes gleaming with humor. “Would you two cut it out? You’re blocking the door.”

Cate and Gabby stepped apart, their expressions equally chagrinned. Cate didn’t know if the odd breach was successfully healed, but she hoped so.

Becca popped her head out of the door. “Good news! We’re so popular the fire department sent someone over for crowd control. They’ll be kicking people out any minute now.”

Cate raised an eyebrow. “We’re celebrating that?”

“You bet.” Becca waved at Leah and Gabby. “So glad you came. In the spirit of full disclosure, you’ve missed some of the best items. Our shelves are getting bare. I’ll chat with you later.”

Leah smiled. “It’s cool to see you and Becca on such good terms.”

“It really is.” Cate nodded. “There have been a lot of good things to come out of my wedding failure. My relationship to my baby sister is one of those.”

Gabby studied Cate’s face, her expression a mixture of hope and concern. “And you’re really happy with Harry?”

Cate had finally told both her friends the whole story days ago. “So much more than happy,” Cate said. “I had no idea what love really was. Until now. Harry makes my world complete.”

Leah sighed. “That’s what I want. What I’ve always wanted. But I don’t know if it’s in the cards for me. Most men seem to prefer tall skinny blondes. You know. Peach Blossom Queens like you, Cate.” She grinned teasingly.

Gabby shook her head. “You’re perfect the way you are, Leah. Any guy would be lucky to have you.” She glanced at her watch. “Shouldn’t we go in and buy something? We want Cate’s first day to be a success.”

Cate stood between them, wrapping an arm around each of their waists. “I have all I need. Thank you for always being there for me. I couldn’t ask for two better friends.”

Leah nodded. “From Blossom Branch to UGA to Atlanta and back, our friendship has survived. Men may come and go, but our bond is forever. Now, come on, ladies. Let the shopping begin.”
