“Slate, do me a favor. Anna Reich, remember her? Yeah, she’s at my villa, obviously lost. I need you to go there and make sure she vacates it as soon as possible. If she refuses, you can drag her out of there. You have my permission. She’s trespassing.”

I toss the phone onto the couch and gaze at Kat.

“Hide your claws, wild thing.”

She casts her gaze down.

The yacht living room is quiet. The sound of the splashing waves seeps through the open terrace doors as I study Kat.

“Did she insinuate something?” I ask. “Because I haven’t seen her yet. And to be honest, I couldn’t care less. I won’t. So, spill.”

Kat’s expression softens, a cute pout on her lips that I want to kiss and lick until she purrs in satisfaction. She has no idea what she’s in for once we sort this out.

She still doesn’t look at me. “What am I supposed to think when I walk into my boyfriend’s villa and his ex walks out wrapped only in a towel?”

I cock an eyebrow. Anna has balls. Desperate, for sure. She came with a plan. “And?”

Kat’s eyes snap up at me. “And what?”

“What happened? What did she say?”

“Nothing really. Not like I want to talk to your fuck girls.”

I hold back a chuckle. “Wow. Since when do I have fuck girls?” I can’t help teasing her. “So you got jealous, huh? Really-really jealous?”

I smile as I reach to stroke her face, and this time, she lets me. My kitten got mad about another woman, and it’s fucking hot. I like seeing her so possessive.

“And you almost drowned because you got jealous,” I say softly.

She holds my gaze for the longest time then blurts out a quiet, “Maybe.”

“Maybe,” I echo, feeling so fucking in love that it rips me apart. “You are in my head, Kat. I can’t think of anyone else. Since I met you, I can’t even fathom having any other girl next to me except you. And you still think that I would do something like this to you?”

She casts her eyes down at her hands, and I take her chin between my fingers to make her look at me.

“You need to know that there’s only one woman in my life. That’s you. Everyone else is off-limits. That goes the other way around.” I raise my eyebrows. “Got it?”

She nods.

“I need you to know that you are more important to me than any other person on this island, Kat. I’d never jeopardize what we have.”

She nods, her expression finally softening. I can’t stay away from her anymore, so I lean in and kiss her softly on the lips, no tongue.

“But here’s the thing, Kat. We had an agreement, yeah? You get angry—you come to me.”

“I called you. You were busy.” She sounds guilty.

“And you got impatient. And broke the rules. And put security in emergency mode. And scared a lot of people. Most of all, me.”

She bites her lip. “You want me to apologize?”

“No. If anything ever happens to you, I’ll send the entire army of mercenaries to your rescue. But—”

She peeks at me from under her eyebrows. “But?”

“I need to blow off steam. And tonight, I’m gonna do it my way.”

I let the words hang in the air between us as I get up and walk to the doors to close them, then turn on the music, walk back, and hold out my hand. “Come with me.”
