“Stay right here. Don’t move. I’ll be right back.”

I rise from the bed, push down the dress and bra, shimmying out of them, and pad to the bathroom.

The light there is too bright. My hair is a mess. My bare skin is lightly red from Jace’s kisses, and I grin like a fool as I clean up real quick and give myself a last glance in the mirror.

Finally, I have him.

I walk out into the bedroom, burning with the anticipation of undressing Jace and seeing his naked body, all mine, for the entire night.

Jace is splayed on the bed just the way I left him, his eyes closed, his head turned to the side. His powerful body is a beautiful sight, the tattoos dark against my light-blue sheets, his dog tag glistening in the light of the night lamp.

But I halt at the sound that cuts off my fantasies.

Jace is snoring.

JACE

Shit,shit, shit.

I wake up next to Lu. Still in my clothes.

I fucking fell asleep last night…

Lu is cuddled up to me, and I slowly move away and stumble out of her room.

It’s nine in the morning. I feel dizzy like I woke up from a coma.

Shower, change of clothes, and I’m off to take Pushkin out, then spend half an hour in my room, listening to the sounds of Lu in the kitchen as she talks on the phone, arranging to meet someone.

She doesn’t leave as if she’s waiting for me.

I wanna lick you like a popsicle.

Embarrassment washes over me like hot lava.

Seriously? I said that?

I’ll fucking kill Roey. Who the fuck spikes his own friend?

Finally, I step out of my room.

“Coffee?” Lu smiles at me.

She’s dressed in ripped jeans and sandals, a yellow silk scarf around her neck in contrast with her baby-blue tank.

Color rises to her cheeks, and she looks away as I start fussing with the coffee like a dumbass.

I don’t know if she’s upset with me for passing out, wants to talk about it, or if she wants me around at all.

“I’m meeting up with Becky at the gallery. I’ll see you later?”

Yep, she’s leaving, not meeting my eyes.

“Okay.” What do I say? Do I even bring up the last night?

“Alka-Seltzer is in the drawer,” she says from the door. “If you have a headache.”
