“I wasn’t asking Pushkin,” Jace says anyway and winks.

Gosh, stop! Even his winks send me over the edge.

It’s getting dark, and this moment is the one I anticipate the most lately. Not my exhibition, not the parties, not the money I get for my work. Him. Always him.

I turn on the movie as Jace splays on the couch, watching me, and beckons me with his hands. “Come here.”

I’ll ruin this guy tonight. He has no idea.

His lips brush against my cheek, making my skin tingle with goosebumps as I settle in his arms.

His whisper makes my skin hum. “I want to make you feel good and forget about the crappy day.”

His kind eyes are only inches from mine.

“Can we touch more?” I tease. “Or is it for special occasions?”

His forefinger strokes my cheek. “Every minute with you is a special occasion, Lu. I can kiss you a hundred times a day if you let me. There are so many things I want to do to you.” His whisper is better than any sex I’ve ever had. “I’m just afraid that one day, this will end. And when it does, it’ll break my heart.”

My own heart whimpers at the words. “It won’t. I won’t let it. Don’t let it end. You are mine, Jace Reed. Can you be mine?”

“I was yours the day I met you, Lu.”

“With all your dark clothes and your dark past and your tattoos. I want it all, Jace. I’m greedy like that.”

“Yes, Lu.” His soft chuckle grazes my lips. “That Sharki is yours too.”

My pulse booms in my head.

Sharki?

I pull away and meet his eyes.

That word is not a coincidence. It’s not. I can tell by the mischievous glint in his eyes.

Warmth stings my cheek, and I feel…ashamed.

“Did you read my stories online?” I whisper and hold my breath.

The sparkles in his eyes turn into little fires. And that fire starts eating me up from within.

He brushes my cheek with the back of his fingers.

“Did you?” I insist, my stomach lurching as I search his eyes for the answer.

His lips hitch in a tiny smile. “Yes, Lu. I did.”

LU

My heart isabout to jump out of my chest and leap from the eleventh floor in embarrassment.

So, Jace has read my stories…

It’s humiliating. Also exciting. And I feel vulnerable. Thousands of readers—fine. Jace—and I feel like he found out my dirtiest secret. He is written all overSharki. It’s the first time I wrote from the heart and put myself into the story.

Smut from the heart…
