His T-shirt underneath rides up, giving me a clear view of his abdomen, and I gape, as the shirt slides back down, hiding it right away.

“Is everything all right?”

His voice pulls me out of my momentary shock that comes back when I glance at his arms.

Tattoos are snaking up his biceps and disappearing under the T-shirt sleeves, part of the tattoo peeking above his collar.

His gaze is probing when I meet his eyes.

“So…” I say in a weak voice.

“Yes, Miss Aberdeen?” His smile widens, making me blush.

I’ve never looked suggestively at Lu, have I?

No. This is not me. This is pure John Temple.

Phew.

“I go by Emily, or you can call me Em.”

“Em it is.”

His voice is like a caress. Do all accountants sound so comforting in a seductive sort of way?

I know him from somewhere, though I can’t quite place it. The sight of him gives me goosebumps. His gaze is too prying like he’s waiting for me to recognize him.

“Have we met before?” I ask, confused.

There’s an itch inside my memory that I can’t scratch. That sparkle in his smoldering eyes—I remember it. But how?

His lips twitch in a tiny smile like he’s about to tell me. “Have we?” He raises a brow.

“Never mind.”

I know that everything in this apartment changes starting today. We won’t be just roommates. I don’t know how I know it or what will happen but it’s a subtle feeling you get when you know your fate just walked in through the door.

I’ve never felt anyone’s presence so powerfully. Every cell of mine comes alive as I show him his new place.Ourplace.

“I’m in the city for several months only,” he explains.

I nod. “Sure.” But my inner voice whispers,“No, you’re not.”And my heart smiles.

Soon, we’ll get to know each other better.

But right now, I know three things about John Temple.

He’s an accountant.

He’s my new roommate.

And he has a tattoo of a shark on his abdomen.

Well, hello, Sharki.”

I look up from the phone and feel myself sweat.

My heart is raging against my chest.
