“Esmeralda,” Rainer said, “I’m here for you. You just did something very hard, and I want you to know that I’m grateful.”

She looked up at her Daddy. She had to look a complete mess right now — tear-stained cheeks and red-rimmed eyes — but he held her gaze. Somehow, she kept looking back at him, daring to believe for just a moment that he didn’t think she was a terrible person.

“Now, I’m gonna say something hard. It’s not up to me to decide whether or not your sister’s death was your fault. By the way, I absolutely think it wasnotyour fault. But the only person whose opinion matters is you. You’ve got to decide.”

“It’s so hard not to feel guilty.”

“It’s one of the hardest things in the world. You know, I get why you’re so into fate. Youwantyour sister’s death to have been fate, don’t you? Because that means you couldn’t do anything to stop it.”

Esme nodded. It was a hard truth to admit to, but an obvious one.

“I get it, and I get why you need to believe that. But… truly, I don’t think it was fate.”

“You mean I could have saved her?” It was agony to face up to this.

Rainer shook his head. “No. The driver was drunk. That washisdecision to drive drunk. He took control of that situation and put every single person on his route in danger. It wasn’t fate – it was caused by a shitty drunk driver. But it wasn’t your fault. You were a child.”

“You don’t hate me?” Esme sniffed.

“Not even close, poppet.”

His arms opened wide for her and he took her close, held her against his steel-cut chest, embraced her with warmth and acceptance.

For the first time since the accident, she considered that it hadn’t been fate.

And maybe that was okay.

Esme felt overwhelmed — when she thought about everything this man was giving her, it was as though she was lost in a sea of generosity and kindness.

“You make me feel… special,” she said, eventually.

“Youarespecial,” Rainer replied. His face was so close, his lips so tempting, she couldn’t help but just reach up…

The kiss was pure passion, an exchange of trust and respect in physical form. The heat of it took Esme by surprise, as Rainer’s dominant nature started to show itself. He dictated the pace of the kiss, guiding her with his tongue, showing her how to respond. Everything she did was a mirror of him, was a reaction to his demands and needs. She trusted him. She needed him.

“Daddy,” she panted, “I want more. I want it all. Everything.”

“Babygirl,” he said, his breath heavy too, “do you think you’re ready for it? For me?”

“I know I am.” Her hand was searching for any tiny scrap of exposed flesh. She wanted to touch him so badly it was like her body was on fire. His skin was so smooth and so warm. She ran fingertips over his inked skin, felt tiny ridges where the ink of his tattoo lay beneath the epidermis.

“You’re mine, aren’t you?”

“Completely.”

Rainer brushed his thumb over her mouth. She kissed it, then slipped the tip between her lips.

“Esme, I’ve known you were mine for a long time. I’ve felt it about you.”

Esme felt Rainer’s hand moving down her back, resting in the small of it, before cupping her butt and gently squeezing.

“You’re my forever girl.”

He found her lips again, and this time, the intensity and passion were almost overwhelming. All she could do was to give herself to him, let him take what he wanted from her, as her body squirmed in reaction to his touch. She felt his hard cock, straining against her body through their clothes, and she moaned at the thought of what he would feel like inside her.

“I’m going to find your pussy wet, aren’t I?”

“Maybe,” she winced, biting her lip at the shame of it.
