“You ready to sign, babygirl?” Chuck asked.

“Yes, Daddy,” Millie said, her heart pounding.

She signed it with a flourish, and then he followed suit.

“Well, I guess that’s it!” Trent said, with a huge grin. “Congratulations, guys, it’s official!”

“And now,” Duke said, “the bit I’ve been looking forward to!” Chuck and Millie turned to face him, curious. Duke was holding a plastic bag.

“I wanted to give you this,” he said, “as a gift.”

He handed them the bag, and they pulled out a set of hand-carved wooden paddles. They were finished with a leather grip and had metal rings set into the handles.

“Wow!” Chuck said. “These are great.”

“I’ve got hidden talents,” Duke said.

“And far too much time on your hands, apparently,” Trent chipped in.

Millie looked at the paddle in her hand. The thought that her Daddy might use that on her soon was almost too exciting to cope with.

“Now,” Chuck said, “if the two of you don’t mind, I want to show Millie a few things.”

CHAPTER TWELVE

Itfeltlikeadream. Now that the contract was signed and Trent and Duke had said their goodbyes, Millie was fizzing with nervous excitement.

Chuck led her through the rather formal contract room into what could only be described as a paradise for Littles. She gasped as she looked around. How had the brothers managed to put this together in two short weeks, and keep it hidden from Takis? It was mind-boggling.

“You like it?”

She nodded, her jaw slack with wonder. “It’s the most amazing space I’ve ever seen.” Obviously, Millie had spent some time in Rawhide Ranch, and had been endlessly impressed with the set-up there. But there was something about knowing that this had been the creation of just three men, in just two weeks, that made it totally blow her mind.

“Glad you like it.” Chuck seemed genuinely humbled by her appreciation.

“How could I not?” She took it all in. The room had been decorated to be the perfect place space for a Little. The walls were painted in pastel colors, and there was a banner that said: ‘Millie’s Place’ in bright yellow letters. Stacked up against the walls were chunky shelves, full of all kinds of things to play with, and the toys were all way better than anything she could have ever hoped for. Dolls, stuffies, balls, and books. There were jigsaw puzzles and train sets, decks of oversized cards, and a bunch of classic board games.

Then there was the furniture: an oversize crib, and oversized chairs. Just being in here made her feel small, like she wanted to curl up in the corner and suck her thumb.

“Do you want to play?” Chuck asked.

“Mmmhmm. But… it’s late, isn’t it?”

Chuck checked his watch. “It is. But… today’s a big day. And all rules need to be broken now and then.” He was having trouble keeping the grin off his face. “I’ve been waiting a long time to see my little girl play.”

“You’re going to watch?”

“Of course. Might play with you a little, too. If I’m allowed of course?”

Without thinking, Millie ran up to Chuck and threw her slender arms around his muscular torso. She breathed in deep, finding herself lost in his scent again — lawn clippings, coffee, and the undefinable aroma of a man. “You can always play with me, Daddy.”

“Good,” he replied. “And you don’t have to worry about work tomorrow.”

“I don’t?”

“Nope. Told Takis I was giving you a day off. You deserve one.”

Her heart pounded in her chest. She was being given carte blanche to play as much as she liked, for as long as she liked.
