When her door finally closes, I can breathe again.

I clutchthe red ribbon and stare at it while sitting on the couch in the chapter room.
“This girl …” I mutter. “Thisis the one you’ve been visiting?”
I look up at Kai, who’s sitting on a chair at the table so Milo can clean his wound.
His eyes narrow in a suspicious manner. “How do you know I’ve been in her room?”
My jaw tenses. “You first.”
“I kissed her, yes, if that’s what you want to know,” he replies.
My nostrils flare as the ribbon curls around in the air.
This fucking girl … she’s the girl we’ve been looking for all this time, and he found her.
I slam my fist onto the table. “You knew it was her, didn’t you?”
Even Milo stops bandaging him now.
Kai doesn’t respond.
