“That's not necessary. I have a car.”

“It would make the most sense if we arrived together.”

“Oh. Right. Should we come up with some type of backstory? How we met? Some basic information about each other?”

“I doubt any of that would come up with him but just in case I suppose it would be good to come up with a story. I will have my assistant come up with a good backstory for us and email it to you as soon as possible so that you have time to review it before tomorrow night.”

“Wouldn't it be better if we came up with a story ourselves, so they were personal?”

“No. My assistant will do a good job and she will do her research with it. It will be fine.”

“Okay. Is there anything else?”

“Not at the moment, so we can go if you like.”

“All right.” She stood and tossed her purse over her shoulder in one smooth motion. “Well, it was nice doing business with you. I look forward to seeing you tomorrow evening.”

“You too. I stood to walk her to the door, and she quickly headed to the elevator, leaving me feeling empty and alone once again.

Chapter 5

Aurora

The next day, I had errands to run and a couple of applications to drop off. Even though I had a job with Delphine, it was a last resort and I still planned to look for something different in the long-term.

My purse slipped off my shoulder, nearly knocking the takeout container from my hands while I stood at my apartment door, digging for my keys. I barely got the door unlocked when my phone started ringing. I fumbled for a moment, bringing my cell to my ear as I stepped inside.

"Ciao?"

"You must have some magic between those legs of yours."

"Delphine?" I dropped my keys on the entryway table and slipped off my heels.

"Of course. I don't know what you did to Signore Morelli. But he just called to request you for the entire week."

"Oh, yeah."

"That's it? You've managed to charm the uncharmable. If you play things right, you could end up making this a long-term thing. This could make us both very rich."

"It’s just that he already mentioned that he was going to ask you about reserving me for the week, so I was already expecting it."

"Ah, I see. Well, I know that your finances have been tough lately so I'm sending you your cut for last night. Oh, and he left a tip."

"Thank you." My phone chimed with an incoming email, alerting me that I'd been sent money and I blinked at my screen for a long pause. “Delphine, this can't be right."

"It is. And there will be plenty more if you play your cards right."

It was enough to pay two of the three months of back rent I owed. All for spending one night in bed with a handsome Roman God.

My phone chimed with another incoming email. I glanced at my phone screen.

From the office of Lorenzo Morelli. It had to be the email from his assistant, sending me our backstory for me to memorize before our date." I placed my takeout container on the coffee table and walked to the kitchen.

"Delphine, I’m just getting home so I need to run but we’ll talk soon?”

"Yes, very soon. Make me proud. I know you can pull it off and we are going to make so much money off of this."

"I'll do my best, Delphine." And with that she hung up the phone.
