Natalie only digs her fingers in further, meeting my eyes and offering a small nod of reassurance. I pull back out of her almost completely before edging in again, letting myself go an inch further.

I bite down hard on my tongue, trying to rein in the release barreling toward me far too fast. No female has ever had this affect on me, and yet I have to chide myself into lasting when it’s her. The things she does to me…

I move my hips against hers slowly, gently, giving her time to acclimate to my size. My hand drifts between her legs, finding that sensitive spot once more and rubbing tight circles on it as I push deeper with every thrust.

Natalie squeezes around me, her warmth and wetness threatening to snap any control I have over myself. Her eyes roll back as I move between her legs, my name on her lips as I move deeper inside her, each stroke taking me further.

My climax coils tighter around the base of my spine as I move faster, the bedframe hitting the wall behind it with every thrust. Natalie tightens around me, her fingers tangling and pulling in my hair as she makes begging, breathless sounds in my ear that threaten to undo everything that I am.

This time, as Natalie reaches her peak, I go with her.

NATALIE

I lay on my side, Kha’zeth’s arm tucked around me as I lay flush against his chest. I draw shapes along his skin with my fingertips, watching the rise and fall of his ashen chest. This is the third time in the past week I’ve woken up tucked against his side after a wild evening.

I’m surprised by how far we’ve come in such a short time.

We’ve been spending more time – and nights – together, and I feel at ease with him. It’s almost like a true partnership – if I can pretend that I’m not just here for breeding at the demand of the King.

But Kha’zeth has made me feel like it is more than that. He listens to me, and I can tell he cares about me with every touch. If he didn’t, wouldn’t he have kicked me out last night after he had his fill?

He treats me with respect, never pushing me too far. He always makes me feel amazing, and after he claims my body, he cleans me up and tells me to rest. Sometimes, I wonder if he would let me sleep in here every night if I asked, but I’m too afraid of our precarious predicament to test those waters.

I let out a soft sigh.

My life has improved markedly since coming to the manor, but that doesn’t mean I can forget about the conditions I was forced into. I may have come out lucky with the kind of demon that chose me, but that doesn’t mean that all the demons on this floating island are like him.

“You’re thinking mighty loud this morning.” Kha’zeth’s hand moves softly up and down my spine, his fingers trailing along my skin so lightly, it sends a delicious shiver through me. I want to arch my back into him, beg him for, beg him to go lower, but I know that it won’t stop what is weighing so heavily on me.

“Natalie,” he whispers, and his other hand comes up to grip my chin. He lifts my face to look at him. “What’s on your mind?”

I chew on my bottom lip. “You know that I am very grateful for my life here, right?”

His eyebrows tip up. “And?”

“But not all the humans on Ti’lith are treated so well. Before I came here, I was starving and the trolvor didn’t feed us often.”

His arm tightens around me. “You are no longer like that, though. I feed you well.”

I nod, propping myself up on his chest to better look at him as he glides his hand from my chin to my shoulder. “I just can’t stomach living so well when I know others aren’t. Do you think we could bring the others food?”

Kha’zeth traces his fingers over my cheek. “Natalie, I can’t do things like that.”

“But you can summon it out of thin air! I have to give some to those who really need it.”

He slides out from under me, standing to get dressed. “I may treat you well, but that doesn’t mean all demons will understand why. If I were to do something like that, it would be a sign of my disapproval of the King’s treatment. It could get me in trouble, and if I am not in the King’s good graces, I can’t do much for you, much less all those other humans.”

I sigh, wanting to protest further, but he’s already crossing the room. He pauses in the doorway to the washroom. “Get dressed, please. The girls will be expecting us.”

A flicker of fury ignites inside of me, but I nod. I know that Kha’zeth isn’t just ignoring the humans, but that doesn’t soften the blow.

I’m silent as we go downstairs, but it goes unnoticed with the chatter from the triplets. They are always so excitable, and a pang of sorrow echoes through me as Kha’zeth snaps his fingers and food fills the table.

I watch each of the triplets load up their plates with food they’ll only sample, not even hearing the conversation. It’s not until I feel a hand on my arm that I’m jolted back to the present.

“Natalie.” I turn my head to look into Kha’zeth’s dark eyes, and that familiar lump in my throat forming as he speaks. “Why aren’t you eating?”
