“Ah, look at you smile, big boy. Had a good night then?” he asks as he punches me in the shoulder.

I don’t answer. I don’t want to give myself away even though it’s totally obvious.

“I know. I know. You won’t say a thing, but I’m happy for you, man.”

“He’s just a job,” I say lowly as I crack the eggs. “I move on after this. You know the rules.”

Casey says nothing as he lays the bacon on the griddle. “I get it, man, but I mean…you gotta live a little. Life is short.”

I did. Last night. Kissing him, rutting against him like a dog in heat. And now what the fuck am I supposed to do? He’s the boss’s son, my client. And here I am, breaking every rule in the book. The spankings I could justify as keeping him safe, but kissing him isn’t anything but selfish. That was totally for me. I can’t say it wasn’t.

We work in silence until Diablo comes ambling out, looking like the hot mess he is.

My hot mess.

His eyes track over my body before landing on my lips, and I see his own tremble.

“Morning, sunshine,” Casey says, throwing him a wide smile. I don’t like him looking at Diablo like that, and yet there’s nothing I can do to stop him. Casey is congenial by nature. Where I’m stern and bossy, he’s friendly and overbearing.

“Morning,” Diablo grumbles as he moves toward the coffee machine. He stares at it, opening the lid and then closing it before pressing some buttons with careless abandon.

“I didn’t know you drank coffee,” I say.

“I don’t, but I want to now. I’m exhausted.”

I reach out and grab him a mug, placing it next to him. “Well, you’ll need this. Go sit and I’ll make you a cup.”

“No. I want to learn how.”

His gaze flits up to mine and something moves inside my chest.

“Yeah?”

His head bobs in a curt nod. “Yeah.”

I hand the eggs over to Casey as I stand next to Diablo, instructing him how to place the filter in and how to measure the grounds. He listens intently, his body inching closer and closer to mine until he’s pressed against me entirely.

I don’t say a word, just stand completely still, watching as the brown water begins to sputter out of the spout and into the pot.

“That’s complicated. I won’t remember it all,” he says after a moment, and my fingers reach out and brush against his. A shot of desire shoots up my arm, and I force myself to believe that it is just static electricity before moving away from Diablo entirely.

“Go sit,” I say softly, and he rolls his eyes, seeming to almost plant roots in the spot where he stands.

I shake my head and grab a plate for him, dishing him up eggs and bacon and shoving it into his hands. He takes it begrudgingly as I lead him by the elbow over to the table.

“I’ll bring you your coffee. Want anything in it? Cream? Sugar?”

“Nothing. I drink it black. Like a man.”

I raise my eyebrows at him and then snort a laugh. And that laugh transforms into a loud guffaw when he nearly chokes on the dark brew a minute later.

“This is disgusting!” he sputters, wiping at his mouth. “It’s death! Who drinks this shit? My god!”

Casey smirks at me as he takes a long sip of his own and then nods at the fridge.

“Better get some cream and sugar…it’s no fun being a man.”

Diablo glowers at him and stomps to grab what he needs, my eyes taking in that pert little ass as he moves. Casey catches me and winks. It’s my turn to roll my eyes.
