“What’s that look about, Sis?” He tilts his head to the left, a small tell that shows his playfulness.

“Hmm, me?” I ask innocently, attempting to tug the bowl from his grasp.

“Don’t play coy. You’ve got that look.” He elbows Cash and nods in my direction. “She has the look, doesn’t she?”

Cash levels me with a serious stare, checking me over like a specimen, and then nods. “She does.”

“Both of you, shut your mouths.” I warn, but then focus back on Kam. “And you, give me these damn potatoes or so help me, I will tell everyone about you bursting into the bathroom drunk last month, singing, ‘I’m so prett—’” The bowl of potatoes flies my way, as if he threw them at me to get me to shut up. “Kam!” I screech, laughing when the entire table breaks out in song.

Kam’s entire face turns red, from neck to forehead, when he points a finger at me. “Traitor! See if I ever do another montage with you.”

Lexi claps and laughs along with the table, still too young to understand her uncle’s embarrassment. “Yes, you will.” He hides it well, but he’s just as silly as the twins.

“Stop changing the subject! Why did I get the look?” To my dad’s utter enjoyment, he chuckles when the boys tell Kam he’s in trouble. “I didn’t do anything!” He protests.

“Kamy, can I come down to the restaurant and work as a hostess for a couple of nights?” My sweetest voice is on display, so no matter what, I’m going to get my way.

“Wait, can we go back a sec? Why the hell were you in the bathroom with my wife, Kam?” Jaxton glares at his brother.

Giggling again, I waved his concern away. “He barged in plastered last month and I talked him into doing a few things.”

“That doesn’t make it any better, Kitten.” Jax mumbles under his breath, pouting.

Completely ignoring Jax, my eyes widen. “Come to think of it, whywereyou so drunk that night, Kam?”

He sees the twinkling knowledge from a mile away, cursing under his breath. “Harlow had a date.” He finally admits the truth. “You’re right! I’ll admit it. I’m interested.”

The table laughs again, but it’s Cash that lets him in on the secret. “Yeah, we know. It’s obvious to everyone but you two.” He nods at me with a grin. “Let sis work there for a couple of days—she’ll make fast friends—she always does.” He winks from across the table, continuing to load his plate.

Kam glares at the pleased look on my face but secretly loves that I’m butting into his life. “Fine. Two days a week. You can start when we return.”

Jaxton’s laughter vibrates my side when he leans over to whisper, “He has no idea what he’s gotten into.” Before kissing my cheek and turning to feed Lexi.

“No, he doesn’t.”
