"I know we've been really busy lately," I say as I give his hand a little squeeze. "You promise you'll tell me if you're feeling overwhelmed?"

"Don't worry, I will," Caleb says with a smile. "And...I don't know, I like the way things are. It feels...like this is the way things were always meant to be. That everything that happened before was just leading up to this point."

I lean across the table and give him a gentle kiss before sitting back once more. My gaze is drawn to the woodstove and a memory leaps to mind.

"Do you remember the first night we sat here?" I ask.

"Vividly." Caleb looks over at the stove. "I was secretly worried you were gonna get me drunk and ravish me."

"You were?" I nearly choke in surprise.

"Well...not worried so much as hoping...maybe..." He grins. "I thought you were sexy as hell. But I'm glad things worked out the way they did."

"I am too," I say as I look into his eyes and once again feel myself getting lost in his gaze. "I love you, Caleb. More than you will ever truly know. But I vow to spend every day, for the rest of our lives, making sure that you feel my love."

Caleb flushes, and his eyes water with emotion. "Are you trying to make me cry?" He laughs as he dabs away the tears with a napkin. "Nothing would make me happier than to spend the rest of eternity with you, Jordan."
