Somehow, nothing goes wrong. The catering is a success, with both mine and Finn’s families able to choose their preferred entrees from a well considered list. No one is allergic to the table setting. The wine flows freely and everyone is wearing a smile. But most importantly, Finn is right at my side the entire time.

I couldn’t have asked for a better wedding. Even when my makeup begins to smudge, and I’m so tired I can’t join in the latest trendy dance, I’m happy.

At the end of the night, Sophia and Damien practically have to push us out to our car as I instinctively begin helping to clean up.

“Absolutely not!” Sophia laughs. “Go! Shoo! We’ve got this!”

I smile back at them. I can’t believe how lucky I am to be part of such a unique and kind family. We slide back into the car, both of us completely wiped out and grateful for the quiet moment together once again. Finn leans over the center and takes my chin in his hand, placing a long and deep kiss on my lips.

He tries to pull back, but I’m savoring the moment still. I chase his lips with my own, and rejoin our kiss. Finn indulges me, and we stay locked like that for a very long time.

Reluctantly, he pulls away again and chuckles at my silly pout. “There’ll be plenty of time for more once we get to the hotel.”

Yes. Tonight we’ll check into our honeymoon suite. Tomorrow, we drive to the airport, and in less than twenty four hours I’ll be stretched out on a white sand beach enjoying the warmth of the sun and the sound of the ocean.

But right now, I’m still just a blushing bride, drunk on how in love I am with the man at my side. He starts the car and looks in the rearview mirror. Finn frowns.

“What’s wrong?” I ask.

“Luc,” he sighs, and gestures towards the back of the car. In big red letters, most likely someone’s lipstick, ‘JUST MARRIED’ is written on the rear window. “Sophia told him that was a human tradition during her wedding. I stopped him from defacing Damien’s car, but I suppose he couldn’t return the favor.”

I can’t help but burst into laughter. It takes a moment, but soon Finn is laughing too. He shakes his head and begins to drive us toward the hotel.

“I think I’m going to enjoy being Mrs. Blackwell,” I say, wiping the tears from my eyes.

“I certainly hope so,” Finn says with a smile. My heart flutters at the sight.

Once again he takes my hand, and we drive off into our happily ever after.

The End
